I just moved into a house with an inground pool. I have been looking at robot cleaners and am curious of the same thing. Is this thing legit or junk?

I got this one from Amazon and it does an OK job at cleaning the pool's floor, but decided to return it and pay a little extra for the Paxcess Automatic Robotic Pool Cleaner. The paxcess Robot Cleans better and climbs the pool's walls.

Hmm, I see "Sold & shipped by Gadgetwoo" for the $270 price, not Walmart. So returns may not be as easy if you don't like it.

Would it be possible to hook a fishing line up to this and have it troll the bottom of a pond for catfish?

Is this the same thing from paranormal activity that gets shot out of the water? Asking for a friend.

Save your money and invest in Maytronics robots. They are worth every penny.

Yes but it needs a pump for suction

Agreed. I bought a used Maytronics Dolphin Diagnostics 8 years ago for $200 and it's still going strong.

I bought a Polaris F9650IQ (or whatever the model number was back in 2018...not exactly sure, but it was the highest-end Polaris). Even though it had quite a hefty price tag (~$1400), it is 1000000% worth it. Manually, it would take me 3 hours to properly and completely vacuum my pool. With the Polaris, I can turn it on early in the morning or late the evening before swimming the next day, and I can then avoid dripping sweat profusely for 3 hours while it does the work. The first few years I lived in my house, it got really old manually vacuuming. Buying the Polaris was a lifesaver.

The way I looked at it was that I was vacuuming at least 2-3 times a week during the swimming season (typically mid-May until early October where I live...roughly 18 weeks). That came out to at least 36-54 hours each season I spent vacuuming. And that's probably a very low estimate. Even if you only value your time at $10/hour, that's $360-$540 minimum each season. I definitely feel the expense is justified because I get that time back to do other tasks or spend with my family. I've had it now for 3 full seasons and haven't had any issues or have I had to spend a single penny in maintenance. I am going to take it in for a tune up here in a few weeks for the season, but I've had zero issues so far (knock on wood). In my opinion, it's paid for itself and then some.

I will say that the app control isn't really as cool as I thought it would be, but I just hook it up and let it do it's thing while I do something else, so controlling it isn't that big of a deal. It does come in handy when there's that one spot that just got missed, but I rarely use the app control. And another thing I've noticed is that if there is super-fine debris (smaller than sand), it won't always get every little bit. But I solve that problem by lining the inside of the basket with paper towels and voila!

Sorry for the dissertation, but I can't recommend the high-end Polaris enough. If you're going to get a robot cleaner, get a good one and you won't regret it. Happy swimming!

One other thing: many pool stores have a Polaris Days event usually in June and then again in September (Leslie's where I live). If you can hold out, buying it or any Polaris during that event will save you a couple hundred dollars or so.
