Not doubting you, but I wonder if they have inconsistent manufacturing. I'm a long time Ex-O wearer, and I swear by them. A couple of years ago, people started complaining that the quality had gone downhill, that the waists were failing and that the material was pilling up.

I almost held back, but decided to buy a few more pairs, and they've been just as reliable as the earlier ones.

So I wonder whether it's a YMMV thing, or if I just got lucky the last time around. You're not the only one complaining, so I know it's not just one or two people who got a bad batch.
You must do 'chill time with the boys' differently than me if underwear color matters.
You're probably washing them wrong, I've had these specific ones among other pairs. 0 issues.

Wash on cold, hang dry = 0 issues for me.

I wear a 30, and they fit me great. Not a technical answer, but something to reference

Terrible product. The elastic stretches out on every pair and is useless after a year or so. I always make sure I come to ex officio deals to warn folks. It breaks down hand wash or in machine wash. Doesn't matter. I have a 28 - 30 in waist so I'm not doing the stretching...

Agreed. My new pairs are honestly better than the originals.

I bought into the hype during the last deal. Not super impressed. They are initially comfortable but ride up easily.

How is the fit? I'm a 29 and the ones I got from Costco were too big. But never had that problem with any other underwear. Got a size small obviously

I actually had this issue with a batch I bought 2 years ago where the waist band stretched out in less than a year. I have even older pairs from +5 years ago, and they're actually holding up well despite some pilling. However, I bought another pair last year, and they don't seem to have the waistband stretching issue. I think there might have been a faulty batch at some point because I haven't experienced that waistband issue on the newest batch in this past year.

If you've never had these before take a look at the stitching/cut around the crotch area, it's very wide, kind of a granny panty style. Good for comfort but keep in mind that there isn't support there like UA/Adidas/etc, the boys will flop around if you're doing active stuff in these. Also, you will have a prominent moose knuckle due to that wide stitching.
