Smartwool's [smartwool.com] price is $144. This seems like a buy at REI.

Man these look like they would be a perfect merino hoodie option for casual/travel wear if not for those ribbing things on the arms and shoulders. Very weird look imo. Are they purely aesthetic or do they serve some sort of function?

It's a real bummer as I've done a lot of looking and haven't ever seen a decent casual full-zip merino hoodie for less than $100, even with a discounted price. If anyone knows of a good option, please let me know!

Nice to see natural fibers still holding down the ol' fort. Pricey, but great stuff. A little out of my range for how little use I'll get, but would jump on this in big mountain climates.

I'm curious if the price is justified for the performance

The 88/12 nylon blends are durable, but I'm pretty tepid on the low-merino, polyester blends.

The railroad tracks on the sleeves look like costume design for a campy '50s sci-fi flick.
I wish people would not make silly comments when they obviously have no clue about the product. 😖

FYI, Sierra dot com usually has quite a bit of Smartwool stuff that's reasonably priced. They also have some other pricey brands that use merino wool, such as Icebreaker and Ibex.

SmartWool products pills after one use, and their warranty does not apply to pilling.

I just picked up a similar blend smartwool shirt from goodwill today. I don't love the graphic design but the comfort and fit are just about perfect for me. Unsure of durability but it appears and feels just about new.

I bought one at sierra for $75, would not buy again and I'm a Smartwool fanboy.
