No matter what I do, the 2024 download / install is replaced w/ 365 prompts and will not load anything but 365... which, of course, gives a code validation error b/w 2024 is not 365. The very few times I've made it to the link to validate the 2024 code, submitting the code results in a URL offline error.
My 265 enterprise version was a work/school freebie that I no longer have access too, and as any good slickdealer, I refuse to lock myself into a pricey, ongoing subscription just to use Excel & Word.

The Windows 11 installer is freely available on the Microsoft website. Install it and don't activate it. You're limited with no ability to change the desktop picture and a couple other minor inconveniences.
Libre Office and Google Docs are freely available. If those aren't good enough then you could download a copy of Microsoft Office and/or an activator at a torrent site for free illegally, the only difference being that you don't have to give your credit card info to an unscrupulous third party. With the torrent option or with digitalkeysbox make sure to run a virus scan on it before installing.
