Customized and ordered one of these March 13th. Estimated ship date was April 12th. April 13th I got an email saying it was delayed another month. I called and cancelled. When I got my refund a week later, they did not refund my extended warranty, even though i ordered it at the same time. Had to call them again. Not cool.

I am simply not a big laptop fan due to the keyboards. I like a regular keyboard and I know you can typically plug in a regular keyboard but that kind of defeats the purpose of a laptop. Friend of mine told me, "Get a tablet, e.g. iPad.

Try a business laptop, especially a Thinkpad or HP elitebook. Best keyboards in the industry

This laptop on front page again? Purchased exact same laptop for $550, random crashing, sent it back to HP to repair, took two months said no replacement motherboard due to COVID. Offered me two options, a refurbished same config laptop or full refunded giftcard. I took the giftcard and am waiting for a sale to spend the giftcard to buy a Pavillon or Envy 400 nits screen. I will not touch their entry level laptop again.

Don't choose 250 nits screen even 1080p, touch or not, only 45% NTSC. If you care about color accuracy, you will regret..

Wow this laptop got grilled in just about every previous post on SD... what a shame
There's certain items that people always trash because they do not contain the greatest and latest cutting-edge technology. Therefore, the item is a borderline useless piece of.....

eg.... Certain people could not possibly find a use for a TV without multiple HDMI 2.1 inputs, VRR capability & ALL the HDR formats.

Someone was complaining that this laptop only has a quad-core processor??? Sacre Bleu!!!
I guess nowadays a quad processor is the equivalent of a Pentium 4 or ARMS processor.

full refunded giftcard? What kind of BS is that.

You probably better off getting purchase protection from your credit card ...

It passed the 30 day return period, and HP offered a rental laptop while repairing. They just didn't know when it could be repaired. I always choose Dell laptops, but saw this for $500 and thought it was a "great deal" . After this, I am done with HP.

HP makes everything a pain. Atrocious reps and managers if your brand-new laptop is having problems---hours and hours of dealing with them. Poor quality. AVOID.

Had one and return, the keyboard's letters are really hard to see. Key press are sort of flimsy too. Other than that, the spec and display are decent

Yeah IDK what's with Dell and HP these days and silver keyboards. They look cheap and are hard to read.
I would add the backlit keyboard making it $639...
Quote from norazi :
Great specs for the price but this chassis is terrible... everything about it (hinges, casing, materials, keys, etc) feels like it would last a year tops.
Quote from arjun90 :
How's the hinge on this one, looks sturdy to me, is it deceiving?
Quote from arjun90 :
My guess is that its all plastic, right? Confused
Quote from norazi :
There's varying degrees of the quality of plastic. not to mention thickness.... you hold this next to say a Dell Inspiron (which is their budget line and isn't as nice as say an XPS or Laititude) and you can clearly feel the cheapness of it.
Get an HP Envy series 2 in 1 laptop to solve that problem... I got one for $787...

Is the envy keyboard comparable to thinkpad?

Ha! Because people on slickdeals are cheap skates. If it's not premium for a low price, they flame grill it. LMAO

This got delivered 3 months after ordering. The price went down a couple of times since ordering but they won't price match. the features seemed good on paper but performance and hardware indicate low quality build.

Dude, don't suggest if you don't really know. That is a Intel H10 PCIe NVMe ssd with 16GB optane integrated as Cache drive in the PCB as Optane memory is faster than normal flash based storage. Google Intel H10 and you'll get the details.

Didn't know they made the drives as one. I know the HP only have one M.2 slot and the last one I ordered from HP had one 2.5 SSD and an optane 16GB in the M.2 slot.

Intel H10 is now pretty old which basically uses a lower tier QLC based DRAM less PCIe SSD with 16GB (for 256GB) or 32GB (for 512GB or higher) Optane memory as Cache. This is here for at least last three years and all the major manufacturers offer this in their all tier of laptops. HP even offers this option in their highest consumer Spectre line.
Now for higher end Laptops, the normal SSD without Optane, is normally a higher end TLC SSD with DRAM caching, like Samsung PM981 and performs better than Intel H10. SO, no point of choosing that over normal PCIe SSD.
For the budget models, manufactures normally use lower tier QLC SSDs and in most cases Intel H10 can provide slightly better performance than those low end normal SSDs. That's the reason, I have configured this model with the SSD with Optane Cache.
