They wouldn't have to require id.me if they didn't know that people would post the "deal" all over the net, and millions would fraudulently take advantage of it.
THIS. i'm still mad about all the people snagging up crocs for their great aunt thrice removed who's supposedly a nurse. meanwhile those of us who were actual doctors/nurses/healthcare workers were working our asses off and unable to man a goddamn progress bar for an hour every day.

All I am saying is that there are a lot of deserving people due to this pandemic. And yes, store can do whatever they want. But society feels that publicly thanking a healthcare worker is what is most important. There were many people that work in grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations, travel that had to go to their jobs every day and put themselves in harm's way but go unnoticed and unrecognized. No one would ever run a "Thank a grocery store associate" promotion, yet people would be pissed if the grocery industry just shut down and no longer provided food.

I am not in any of these areas of work.
With that logic, you should never open your own business because you will be giving away free stuff to everyone. ALL parts of our society is considered essential in one way or another. Chipotle can give free food to whoever they want to promote towards; It does not mean they don't care or think other parts of society are not essential.

Working in retail and similar industries, while challenging and worthy of similar promotions, do not carry the same personal endangerment and psychological burden of working with critically ill patients day in and day out. Experiencing the daily death of patients due to COVID and other diseases takes a toll on an individual. It is nice to have the recognition during such a difficult time of employment.
Well put! Applause

There were a lot of people that were deemed "Essential Workers" throughout the past year, yet this offer only applies to healthcare workers. It's not right.

Note: I was not an essential worker, but they also deserve credit.
For one their exposure was infinitely higher and many of them were furloughed or fired because volumes at hospitals plummeted with most barely getting any funding. Several of friends lost their jobs or took 50% pay cuts. My wife was "lucky* getting a 10% cut, losing many of her benefits and constantly worrying about losing her job. Thanks though

Healthcare workers were asked to place themselves in harm's way, cover the shifts of their colleagues who contracted COVID, take care of known COVID patients all without proper PPE. You probably have no visibility to the fact that there were insufficient supplies of masks, face shields, gowns and gloves. You probably have no visibility to the fact that healthcare workers had to reuse the same N95 mask for up to a month with compromised elastic straps and known leakage. You have no visibility to the emotional toll it takes when a patient you're entrusted to care for dies in front of you while you're holding their hand. You have no visibility to how hard it is to call family members and tell them their loved one has passed.

If this makes me biased and entitled, then so be it. I agree other essential workers deserve credit, but the level of risk a grocery store worker takes is not commensurate with the level of risk healthcare workers takes on.

Signed,
A healthcare hero

I work in investment banking, and despite being an essential employee, I never get to participate in these offers. I guess helping people achieve financial health will never be appreciated.
Apparently a lot of people didn't get the joke.

Wait, I've worked with a lot of investment bankers over the years. Maybe you weren't joking Wink

Chipotle - Useless promotions that never work. I don't have great expectations for this. Looks like they'll be asking folks to surrender all sorts of private info to ID.me
Exactly -- Chipotle is the worst with promos. Even if you manage to get verified, I'm sure their database will be down, or the app will crash when you're at the register, or a clown will pop up from behind the guac and punch you in the crotch.

"Healthcare Hero" lol, they sure are full of themselves lately! My wife and I laugh at this almost daily. That said, I'll see if she can get me a free burrito tomorrow for being a "hero" hahaha.

If there was a shortage of grocery workers you could largely replace them with high school kids off the street
How would you feel about replacing your doctors and nurses with high school kids off the street?

Ty for the OP for sharing the deal. It's nice of Chipotle to offer this.

What's worse is that id.me will likely only recognize doctors and nurses as healthcare workers- not even the poor respiratory therapists...
I think this point is key - I hope that this promo is open to professions outside of just doctors and nurses.

My wife is a therapist as well and she's been REQUIRED (or find another job) to treat/work with COVID patients since this pandemic has started. That to me is "essential" as well.

I know of certain promotions that were targeted at "essential" workers, but then left out folks like therapists, which is really backwards.

ID isn't the problem. It only has limited quantity and the promote the same promotion last time. Not all healthcare workers have the time to wait on the dot to get a free burrito. Some of us have patients to attend to. I think their promotions should had been free for all healthcare workers who show their ID or maybe a 50% off coupon
Definitely! You guys are appreciated! I do t think Chipotle thought this through. You guys work long shifts...what are the odds you can go stand in line at 10am?

Seriously, they could have done better asking their customers to pay $ to donate a burrito to a healthcare worker in appreciation.

You have to remember. This is Chipotle. All it took was one bad experience for me. You need to be a healthcare worker to know how to deal with the aftermath of ingesting Chipotle.
