I'm in the process of buying my first house, with a driveway and a deck and I'm sure that a pressure washer will come in handy but I know nothing about these things. Is this a good enough model for the average joe and everyday use?

It depends on how large and stubborn the jobs are. Electric are great for smaller jobs. If you have a big driveway or patio or house these little units will take you forever to get job done. A gas with spinner extension with about 3200 psi will get you better results

You would need to switch out the orofice nozzle tip with this one for it to work.

Got sears gas, Campbell electric. While what u say is true, in practice, I ve found electric much easier 2 start, move around with minimal fuss, unlike the gas where limited use may end with with service call due to gumming from gasoline. Already had one $$ service call on gas unit. Gas unit also runs out of gas frequently while electric keeps humming along. My wife can use electric, she s barely touches gas unit due to cranking, weight of unit. Believe 2000 psi electric unit would likely suffice 4 most homeowners. By all means, get circular attachment 4 decks if u plan 2 ever 2 use 4 that.
