Lowest price I've seen ever. Been wanting one and going to try it out. Also it had a coupon for 10% off TAKETEN.

This paired with torque(app), best $20 you'll spend on your vehicles. Obviously a code scanner but where it really shines is logging fuel trim and misfires that might not trigger CEL. Saved me lots of headaches.
According to amazon, looks like I ordered this back in 2014 for $23.99.

I have no recollection of this laugh out loud
I literally just bought this two days ago to use with Torque Pro. It works perfectly and is by far the cheapest and most effective way to get into the whole obd scanning business. I tried BlueDriver before and it was a $100 lump of plastic from Torque Pro's point of view, and I wasn't about to go spending another $100 on yet another scanner that also won't work. But, even at $20 not on sale, this Bafx scanner should be an embarrassment to the other obd scanner manufacturers for how much more reasonably priced and still effective solution this is.

search ELM 327 on Amazon, there are a ton of options, but I just checked and found this one for $9.99 https://www.amazon.com/Launchh-Pr...26&sr=8-12

Tons of choices between $10 and $12 that all do the same thing. I have one of the little stubby blue ones in the glovebox of each of our cars. I usually end up using them to help friends at church, work, etc much more than for our own vehicles! =)

Is this better than the very cheap units out there? If so, in what way (faster updates, lower vampire load when car is off, etc)?

You'll notice that your neighbor has been easily diagnosing his vehicle issues for the last six years. Cool

Thanks for the link. Did you get this one and it worked OK?

I have one that looks identical but finally died after ~10 years on the 3rd car. I would never get anything but the low profile ones like you linked. I don't get the excitement for the big clunky one at $14.

Just used mine yesterday. Bought it in 2016 to shop for used cars from independent sellers. Really helped weed out the lemons. Knew instantly if they did something to try to clear the CEL's b/c the readiness tests were incomplete. Used it with torque and bought three cars with it. No regrets.

I too ordered one in 2014. Probably from the same discount. However, I know I lost mine at some point over the years.

What makes this better than a cheapo veepeak like this one? Seems to do the same things... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B011NSX...6PZVZQK06T
I actually own that Veepeak in addition to the BAFX. Well, two of them. One of the Veepeaks worked great and is actually a nice little reader and I love the low profile design, the other didn't work at all. That's why this BAFX is likely better - known reliability and compatibility.

I second this is the "Pro" app really worth $5 ??
Yes

looks cool. can i keep it plugged in all the time? will it drain my battery?
I have this and several cheap clones that we leave plugged in 24x7 on our cars, none of them have ever drained or had any kind of significant effect on the battery.

Yes, this is one of the best - it uses a known good chip and is quite reliable. The only problem is that, depending on where your ODBII port is located, its larger size (relative to some of the cheap low profile units) means your leg might bump or kick it if you leave it plugged in full time.

Does this work with torque or obd fusion apps as a 0-60 timer?

I has a great experience with this along with the Torque App. Was able to get O2 readings to eventually diagnose a faulty catalytic converter replacement done by the dealer.

I was getting erratic O2 readings, so replaced that particular O2 sensor (relatively cheap).
When the problem wasn't fixed, the bad cat was the likely culprit. Took it to the dealer that was supposed to have replaced by cat a few months back and they covered it under warranty.
