I would worry about prices of rental cars then hotel prices. At over $700/day to rent a car, it dwarfs many hotel rentals. I'm staying home.

I'll see where the wind takes me :p . Think it's gonna be the year of islands for me, going to Crete, Greece next week for a few weeks and plan to ferry over to Santorini while I'm there for a day or two. Hoping for a Caribbean trip this summer as well. Any personal suggestions for big island?

Yeah, you can easily find a car around $100 a day. Keep in mind that you also have to pay high parking fees at most of the hotels. I think it's something around $35/day. +covid testing before leaving around $120/person. + some travel insurance in case you need to cancel (covid again for instance). All these extra fees increase the cost of your vacations and I'm sure I'm not listing all of them.
