Now this one is a deal. Had I not just bought a 6X I would be all over this. If you are concerned about the bulky size, that concern goes away in about a day.

Edit: I'm an idiot. I thought it was a 5X Plus.
Still better than the other deal that was posted. But I would definitely rather have a plus.

This is a decent price for this watch, and it only goes this low once in a while. This model is fairly old now, so while it works great and has lot of features, it is lacking several add-ons that the 5/5x plus and 6/6x have, like being able to store mp3s. However it has other features that the newer lower models don't have, like tracking skiing and snowboarding.

Kinda tempted to jump on this since I use garmin for fitness tracking with go365, but my forerunner 645 seems fine aside from it breaking all the time (which they always replace).

I agree I rather also have the plus and since its only $40 more for a plus its worth it to get the music storage and watch payment from your wrist, among other features.

I actually want a 6 but just waiting for my Samsung Gear S3 Frontier to die, for $100 deal I got this for its been a beast the last two years!

Lol, good to know it ain't just me. Do you have any issues with bluetooth headset connectivity? I find that despite having many different replacements at this point, they all like to randomly disconnect from my bluetooth headphones and refuse to reconnect for a while.

Was really considering a venu or the other fenix deal - my Samsung watch does not play nice with iPhone and I want something to track my cycling and hiking...

Garmin pay and on-board music are two must-have features if you are buying a good garmin smartwatch today in my opinion. I have the 935 and will upgrade to one with those features. Not bringing your phone for music and payment when running is a worth the price difference imo. This one is a solid device but it doesn't have either.

This is the watch that I wear. Love the routable maps on it. That feature was added to the Fenix 5 and 5s in the next-gen "Plus" update, but it was available on the original 5x. So while this watch is two generations old (the Fenix 5 Plus and Fenix 6 are the newer generations), it has essentially the functionality of the Plus generation. Very good deal at $300 for brand-new.

EDIT: Someone else just pointed out music as a shortcoming, and that's true. If you want on-device music, this one doesn't have it. You need the Fenix 5 Plus or Fenix 6. This one connects to your smartphone and controls your music, but doesn't have onboard music.

I don't connect my headset to it, so couldn't tell you there. My main issue is the cheap plastic that the band connects to has broken off twice now. I wear my watch on the inside of my wrist and treat it fine, but the stuff just breaks. First time all it took was going down a water slide.

I can't recommend moving from the samsung to garmin watch enough. The battery life alone is worth it. I had too many issues with the Samsung watch taking over my spotify and screwing it up as well. If you have something like go365 that gives insurance discounts for tracking workouts garmin is a must as well.

My wife has the 645. She actually prefers it to the Fenix 5 series because it's lighter. As far as functionality, it's not much different. Doesn't have onboard mapping, but has pretty much everything else. So I don't think it would be worthwhile to upgrade the 645 to the Fenix 5x.

Yep, just recently had to have mine replaced as well. The problem is that they still use the old design (probably to save on the injection molding parts?) which originally held the band in place with screws which worked fine. But then they wanted to make it more fashionable and changed to quick release bands which ended up putting too much pressure when you need to press on the buttons. I will say that at least the CS is excellent and they've been replacing mine despite being out of the warranty range.

I got this for the same price year before last but still think it's a fantastic deal because these prices don't come down that often. The only reason I ended up selling it is because I got the 5X Plus for $350 a while ago. Excellent watch! The Fenix is their best line in terms of utility, durability and versatility.

Thanks for the info! I'll keep using this one.
