So, base 13" Macbook Air M1 has 1 less GPU core and little worse screen, but it costs $899.99 (recent sale price), while you still have to spend another $200-300 for keyboard to go with this ipad?

Am I missing something? It's the same M1 chip?
Yea you're missing that one is a laptop and one is a tablet.

The MBA screen is not just a "little" worse, it's worse than any ipad pro 12.9 ever launched in terms of resolution and brightness. So compared to this ipad pro, it's significantly worse. Also, Ipad has touch screen so you don't have to get a keyboard. And if you do, you don't have to use it with the keyboard all the time. And still if you want to, you can get lighter keyboard.
If you are the artistic kind or a student, the pen can be a lifesaver which is simply not an option on MBA. And that 120Hz screen - it alone makes my son's s21 look so much better than my 12 pro considering both are oled.
It's also not fair to compare price for a 6-months-old item with one yet to be released. Already $50 less so you can certainly expect better deals around black Friday and maybe even an M2 MBA.
On Apple website, the iPad Pro are will be delivered late June/Early July. But Costco says will be shipped in May. Whats the chance of actually getting one in May when Apple can't even fulfill theirs till June

I ordered from Apple 3 hours after preorders opened and got an estimate of late June, early July. I figured I'd give Costco a shot and if they can't fulfill the preorders then it probably can't be as bad as what Apple was already quoting.

i think so. Maybe costco did a deals with Apple to get it first before selling apple
I am a MBP M1 owner and wondering that with iPad Pro being such a powerful device with magic keyboard turning into a MBP Pro type device and the apple pen enabling it to become an artistic and notes taking divice, what are the advantages of having MBP M1 over iPad Pro M1 (other than the cost savings)

Software. There are still programs like Lightroom that aren't ready for ARM so unless everything you need is on IOS, you should wait. This is Apple's long game so no need to rush over as I'm sure we'll all eventually switch at some point in the future.

apple also has free engraving and costco doesn't! fyi!
I see other iPad Pros are also discounted: $50 off the 128GB 12.9" version.
