The HP of today is definitely not the HP of five years ago. Our older printer is still going strong, but our 2020 model died after less than 6 months.

Probably not enough to profit much with, but possibly enough to recoup costs. Just be careful to provide good ventilation (e.g use a fan base), and limit temps etc. so it doesn't wear out. Well designed laptops can run 24/7 but not necessarily full power (I have multiple laptops that have seen years of 'on time'). The goal is to optimize for long term mining, not for the best possible hashrate (which could cause premature damage to the laptop).

I'm doing this on an Asus laptop with a 2070 (should be relatively similar). We'll see how it goes long term, but currently getting about $115/month, so it will hopefully pay for itself. I keep the GPU temp at<60, which should be sustainable indefinitely. The goal for me is not so much to make money as to make my gaming hobby revenue neutral Smilie

RTX 3060 had mining blocked on the nvidia drivers. Workarounds are supposedly possible. Not sure about mobile version.

TLDR; Don't buy any laptop if your primary or only goal is mining. But as a side hustle, it might be worth it.

Nice, thanks for that info! Is that money generated net profit? How much energy do you think you consume? Gaming does get expensive and need for upgrade occurs often enough, so it's great to have ypur hobby pay for itself.

I received an omen laptop with 2060 and wouldnt mind doing it with that if it's possible. It already has great cooling + my laptop fan

What about a virtual currency farm and a real farm or a house above it to make use of all that excess heat? Would be nice in the north to have free heat in the winter and summer isn't too hot. Wink

Maybe a 2,000W mobile unit that can be used as a heater if you add proper reciprocating fan just to handle the cold?

This laptop is pretty loud even with my late-2020 model with 1660Ti. That one had an R7, 16GB, 1TB SSD for $900 at BF. Guess it's all because of the new video cards. The rest is sh*t. I would buy 1660Ti with good processor for work and occasional play. If you want real gaming rig, you should have a desktop anyway.

I got this deal from microcenter last year for $1k for i7. This isn't a good price. FYI, it runs hot and battery life sucks at 90 mins but it's a gaming laptop so...

I'm getting 45 Mh @ 80W or 48.5 Mh @ 100W. I think you're better off leaving it at 80W as it's much more efficient and cool. For some reason the Omen Gaming Hub can't keep the fan on max 100% of the time. It throttles the fan speed regardless of what you set it at.

I'm getting 35 mhs on my 3060 asus laptop. The main item on laptop is ensuring the heat is reduced so I have it propped up with a small fan to keep it cooler otherwise you can risk damage to your laptop over time. I'm getting around 72 degrees heat with the fan.

I don't believe the block to 3060 applies to laptop as I got 35 mhs out of the box on my asus laptop.

Even their printers are sucking, I had bought a really nice one for $200 freaking went bad in three months they sent me a replacement it went bad within two printing jobs go figure
I have been through the gauntlet of just about every brand of printer both commercial and residential and they all suck. The most three dependable from my point of view Canon, and a 2/3rd place tie is between Brother (Laser) /Epson.

I been seeing that the HP software for multiple people the driver keeps getting corrupt lately forcing uninstall and re installs of the printers, very annoying and very meh.

As for deal its a good price but the shifting and long wait time is a deal killer to a lot of people.

That's total, with present market conditions. Gminer claims 115 Watts (~$10/month for me), which is believable based on heat output, so profit is around $105/month.

Also, I have it sitting on a large honeywell Hepa filter (which I run 24/7 for allergies anyway) which probably forces a lot more air through the vents then a laptop cooler would. And I've noticed it makes a *big* difference exactly how I position the laptop. Goal is to have as much pressure differential between the laptop intake and the vent. Since all laptops are made differently I imagine you might have to play with positioning on a laptop cooler to optimize cooling.

The filter has the added benefit of ensuring dust and lint don't gum up the fans. Some laptop coolers also have filters, but you could probably diy that part with an AC air filter from Walmart or something.

yeah HP has been notorious for these 3000 series Omens, expect/prepare for 2+months of shipping time for these 3000 series Omens. it will be a while it's a bit of a scam they will delay your order to the next month for the bulk of these orders and don't offer any upgrades or discounts for your inconvenience. Also HP has a restocking fee

Show me a $1k 30-series laptop and your point will start to have merit, but the entire PC gaming climate right now is nowhere near what it was last year, and 20-series laptops were not nearly as demanded as the 30-series laptops.

Aside from your experience, the HP Omen reviews from last year are pretty consistently positive from major reviewers, and the new models have received a lot of praise as well. Most of the gripe with this deal is that it's through HP directly, and their sales practices are among the worst with regards to customer prioritization.

TL;DR, yes this IS a great price, it's just not a great method of buying it. If you're going to come in with "price is bad" comments, please provide an alternative suggestion outside of claiming you got the same thing for cheaper before it existed with these components.

Lololol, I bought this too.... IN FEBRUARY, still waiting. Can't cancel, just get pinged around between different reps. Told they will cancel, then emailed to say they can't? It's ridiculous. As soooooon as it arrives I'm sending it back on principle. F them and their shady money holding practices.
