I don't think I have used this brand, but cheese powder is great for making cheese sauces. Mix some with milk or water, browned hamburger, and egg noodles, and you have a nice "hamburger helper". How about some cheese sauce for nachos? Or as a dip. And of course, there is always mac & cheese.
2 pound white cheddar much better value.

Can someone explain to me common uses for this? I have to imagine it isn't snorting it.

If you don't mind used, Amazon Warehouse has it even cheaper:

Couldn't resist, so I bought the last one.

Considering it's food, and a powder at that, it's likely just a dented container. I guess we'll see πŸ˜‚.

Cheapest way to get cheese powder is WalMart Mac and cheese. Just toss the Mac, or save for another project.

Please don't do American cheese. That's processed cheese :-/
one of the reasons it works well in cheese sauces is because it is processed. it's milk + cheese + emulsifiers. so it actually makes the box stuff more palatable. If you make mac and cheese from scratch and use 1/2 sharp cheddar and 1/2 american, it makes a much smoother richer sauce than mixing a medium cheddar and colby.

fwiw, i got this stuff at the start of the pandemic. i wouldn't buy it again. i didn't find it working well on popcorn. was nice to add to mac/cheese or hamburger helper as a flavor boost. but ends up adding too much salt for my tastes.

The Daddy Mac powder has a more concentrated flavor that is similar to the old school Kraft powder before they changed it.

So many good finds with Amazon Warehouse with zero risk. If you don't like what they send you, it can easily be returned. People freak out about damaged packaging, dented cans, etc. The truth is that packaging is designed to get damaged and still protect the product. As long as a container isn't leaking, it makes no difference how it looks on the outside. Product inside is perfectly safe to eat. I love finding dented cans on clearance at the grocery store. Always a no brainer buy.

Gluten Free mac+cheese.
Much cheaper to buy GF elbow pasta in bulk then make own cheese sauce using this than single serving GF mac+cheese boxes.

Hint: I blend a small qty. of cornstarch to make the cheese sauce thicker.

also popcorn

also cheesy pasta bake blended with other fresh cheeses

I havent measured the cheese powder in my walmart mac and cheese but I am hoping this 2 lb cheddar cheese powder has less sodium ( NOT low sodium- just less) than the packet in the walmart mac and cheese

btw I make the walmart boxed mac & cheese in the micro- no stovetop needed.

Before anyone says this is gluten free, please read the label it says that it's processed in facilities that process wheat products.
That does not mean this a product that contains gluten, though. It means this does not contain gluten, but carries some risk of cross contamination. Manufacturers use this labeling so they don't have to go through the process of the insane cleaning procedures or huge investment in an entirely gluten-free production line, while not assuming the risk of a gluten-free claim.
Just a little info for you!

Some people like to just take a word that sounds bad and run with it. I make melty queso using pepper jack by adding a teaspoon of sodium citrate and either milk or beer probably once a month. Not sure how that suddenly makes it bad.

what does the sodium citrate do in this recipe?

I didn't know milk and beer were interchangeable. [except when eating hot food]

Interested in learning what you know. thanks.
