The best deal is to buy Lowes GCs at Kroger/Fry's during 4pt promos they run often. if you can use the gas this potentially gives you $70 back in gas at $1/off per gallon for up to 35 g for 1000 pts. That plus use a cc that gives 5% back at groceries.
Regarding the counter tops. Contractors told me they would beat Lowes price. No way. Their bids were each over $10k. Lowes was $6.5K for the very same Silverstone quartz counter tops. This is before my potential 18% discounted gift cards. One reason Lowes was so much cheaper is they charge per sq ft. The contractors were charging per slab and we were at about 1.5 slabs. The contractors were charging for a full 2 slabs. Lowes does charge a $99 measurement fee that is taken off the final price if you buy. Glad I took the $99 risk for a much better price.
Lowes is way overpriced compared to other stores. The only thing worth buying was when they have 20 off $100 or 10% coupon which they got rid off.
