I bought like 12 bags the last time they had it on sale, last summer. Two bags said it was oak, the rest said made with oak. I'm going to tell you, the stuff that had "made with oak" on the bag is the worst charcoal I have ever used in my Big Green Egg in 13 years. The smoke permeates everything. You could smell it in the house two days later. It burned extremely fast and produced a lot of ash. I used two bags and quickly went back to another brand.
Saw Costco Business Wholesale store have El Diablo on sale 40lbs for $17.99
Just FYI, if you have Academy Sport close by, they sell them for $12.99

Really good price for B&B lump, I've still got some Fogo Super Premium on hand when it was about a buck a pound for the Santa bag from Walmart, $12 is well worth giving this a try. Smoking in a WSM.

Just FYI for anyone curious about sizing consistency of B&B -- it's actually a huge gripe I have with it.

It's all over the place, some are chunks larger than your fist, some are tiny, very inconsistent. Otherwise it's good stuff. Their briquettes are awesome, but rarely on sale.

I also bought many bags of this last year - best I've used and am buying more now. Only other brands I've used were Cowboy and Royal Oak.

Bought these last year, about 14 bags. Have 6 bags left, strictly used for smoking. Very large pieces, but also big odd pieces that weren't broken up and even smaller pieces that would be more suitable for a grill. About 50c/lb for lump oak is good I'd say. I prefer the taste of it than mesquite based lump.

I've been going back and forth between B&B lump oak and Royal Oak XL from Walmart, but I think this B&B Lump Oak takes the edge over RO.

Bought this last year, great stuff.

The larger pieces I burn a 2nd time days latter, so very cost effective.

I've gone through 10 or so bags and no nails or screws so far.

I've used two bags of this stuff in the last year. It cooks well but it sparks so much when lighting. seriously looked like one of those little fountain fireworks.

Just bought 120lbs of royal oak this morning for .56/lb at Walmart. This is .6 but comes down to .475/lb with the $5 coupon on two. I like both brands and might pick up a bag when I go to ace to pick up a couple charcoal kaddys so I don't need to lug around the 30lb bags
