I have one of these. It doesn't work nearly as well as you'd expect. I wouldn't buy one again.

I can't imagine how this wouldn't do exactly what it appears it does, except if the fins do not lock and are easily moved. Care to explain?

Fins lock with a lever at the top or bottom depending on the way you hold it. The fins are plastic about 1/8" thick, when locked they don't move even if you apply pressure. As @SharpPiranha590 said, it's ok. As a homeowner i don't need this, never seen one on a construction site either, so make sure you have a use for one. Unless you like collection "gadgets".

Oh I bet this is one of those things you buy because you could have used it once, and the next time you need it you forget you have one.

Furniture lift straps had worked that way for me. Now I can't wait to get a chance to use them, and will probably forget to take them when I go to help someone move something. Oh well.

These are certainly helpful if you know what you're getting. The plastic ones like this don't give you a refined contour though. The metal ones are far better if you need a reasonably detailed contour.

Just heads up on the plastic ones from what I've seen: All the plastic fins are laser cut on a budget laser cutter.

This gives them a bit of a bevel on the end (you can see it in some of the pictures on this listing) and can make your marks a little wonky.

Not a huge deal breaker, considering these are mostly meant for rough cuts, but don't expect to get a perfect transfer of intricate millwork or anything.

In most places I thought I'd use this, I end up just undercutting the moulding.

Pretty much the same on eBay. I steer clear of these 3rd party via Amazon junk sellers with their coupon codes offering discount off of originally inflated price. Their business model is getting impulse buys, and are very seldom much of a deal.

Yes for 1 tool and the OP is for multiple tools for $12.49. So if you need to compare ALL the DEAL with the same items. Cheapest Angle Ruler is around $8. Don't know about quality and precision. As usual it's what you are willing to pay for accuracy, precision and quality.

Those furniture lift straps are a life saver on the days you remember them though.

Or maybe just a back and knees saver.

The only thing I can think of using this for is if you're butting up a board next to stone.

As far as flooring, never used it.

The angle finder thing may be helpful in flooring. I used a collapsible square once to get an offset angle since nothing was square (walls, cabinets, and flooring I had to average out between them).
