Up to 830 is because if you buy 12mini it will have trade in credit or only $730 and not $830 and it you buy 12pro or pro max then you will only get $830 and rest will be on you. That's what upto $830 means so yes iPhone 8 will get you upto $830 depending on the device you choose
Where is Costco? They use to have similar deal as Tmobile but not lately. Wonder if we didn't kill the golden goose by canceling "new line" after getting the rebate.
For those of you trying to get a phone from SWAPPA like a iPhone 8 or S9 series, make sure you do order from an individual seller where the item/images clearly display the listing number.

In that case it's a unique listing offer and the IMEI will be displayed on the sales page right after your purchase. If you order good quality or spend $10 more for mint you should be golden. Once purchased on the sales page you will see the serial number (IMEI):
https://share.getcloudapp.com/GGuQ99y0

If you order from an enterprise seller with generic images and none displays the unique listing number the IMEI will NOT show up and you may have to wait until they are back in the office on Monday and the deal could be over.

Don't do what I did today. I almost threw my laptop AND my existing iPhone 11 Pro over the absolute waste of time spent on this F$%#! deal.

1.) Study the math on the T-Mobile offer to determine how they're applying the credits
2.) Attempt a trade-in with my existing iPhone 11 Pro, realizing I can do so with a far cheaper device
3.) Attempt to locate a cheaper device, but none remain with friends or family
4.) Purchase an iPhone 8 on Swappa to apply to the trade, but not receive the IMEI because it was from an Enterprise Seller, who are not required to disclose said IMEI
5.) Register an account on SD and post about it, realizing everyone here has already purchased the remaining "cheap" eligible phones from individual accounts using Seller 2.0 on Swappa. You guys always beat out someone like myself who takes far too much time to study the deal.

I just wasted $230 and am going to walk away from this opportunity, despite having two eligible lines for the purchase. Absolute waste of a few hours today.
With how popular this deal was, I wouldn't be surprised if they do it again for father's day.

first time buying on swappa, can anyone tell me if the color discrepancy in this picture is the actualy color discrepancy of the phone or just the photo shoot angle difference? i just want to make sure i can pass trade-in check. list says "good". thanks.

The colorization difference looks like lighting to me-- the back of that phone should be glass.

Don't make the same mistake I did and purchase from an Enterprise Seller. It seems these mass-seller accounts are the only ones left with reasonably-priced inventory on Swappa tonight. Enterprise Seller listings do not disclose the IMEI and won't likely respond to you with it in time to take on this promotion. I sunk $230 into a phone on Swappa tonight that I can't submit a form against.

Probably midnight PST, but as long as your receipt shows today's date, you will have proof when talking to care in case for some reason you don't get enrolled in the promo.
Yeah I am hoping it is PAC time as well

So I don't know if I just got screwed or not after spending 3 hours with T-Mobile chat on my iPhone 8 -> iPhone 12 Pro upgrade but appreciate if anyone has had this happened to them or seen something similar:

I told my rep that I'm trading an iPhone 8 64GB Gold, and after ordering iPhone 12 Pro, I get an email stating that my trade-in offer is $99 for iPhone 8 PLUS 64GB Gold.

The shipping/return label also states iPhone 8 PLUS even though I clearly told the chat rep that I'm trading a regular iPhone 8, non-Plus. Afer the rep ordering over chat, I told the rep about the PLUS before getting disconnected and he said it's fine, and the IMEI seems to match on the return label w/ the actual iPhone 8 I'm trading.

But it's that small text stating iPhone 8... PLUS.. in the details, even though IMEI matches. Did I get screwed despite T-Mobile rep saying it's ok?

Apple: iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone SE 2.

I got the free iphone SE from recent promo but don't know if it is 2.
If your iPhone looks like iPhone 8 it's a se 2. Nobody sells iPhone se 1st gen anymore

So if T-mobile accepts locked phones, what's to stop someone from trading in say an at&t locked phone that's still under contract but in good standing and the phone not blacklisted but down the road defaults and gets blacklisted later?
I think they can verify that the phone is actually paid off.

You should be fine as long as the IMEI matches. I'm sure it's happened before.

But wow... 3 hours? Why didn't you just do it yourself online?

They go by UMEI, just check your monthly credit and make sure all add up to $830

Oh thank god, definitely assuring from all of you replying quick that it should be fine since like you guys said, the IMEI does match between the actual phone and trade-in details. Just that it's iPhone 8 trade vs iPhone 8 "PLUS" stating in the text.

And yes, 3 hours because I tried to match Costco's offer to get free 2-day shipping, waived fees (no $20 processing fees or sim card fees), and $30 credit, which I got all. But it came at a personal cost, 3 hours of my life....

First rep literally told me to just go to Costco and do it myself since he can't help me. I pushback and he said let me talk to sales team and just outright transferred me to the 2nd rep who said she can help, except she only support people who add a line, not upgrades. So 2nd rep transferred me to a 3rd rep who is a slow turtle replying my messages with like at least 5 minute gaps.... story of my life I guess lol. But at least 3rd rep actually did help with matching Costco promos despite him taking quite a bit on every, single, replies.

The devices can be carrier locked but cannot have any outstanding money owed on them. The must be paid in full and clear of any financial obligations or will be denied.

It won't show on the receipt. The promo gets applied after the trade in is accepted or after a billing cycle or 2.
If you went to the store, the promo will show up online on a few hours. If you did it online, it will take longer. Mine showed up 3 hours after I left the store.
