Cons:
- Android version updates & security updates end on October 2021
=> Warranty: 6 month Google Manufacturer Limited Warranty, which means if you buy it now, your warranty will end in November.
- Released in the States on October 18, 2018; a bit old hardware but still works fine IMO.

Pros:
+ Brand new phone (just like the previous deal from Woot)
+ However, it is UNLOCKED bootloader this time, which means you can run Custom ROM such as LineageOS, AOSPExtended, Havoc, etc.

Or you can just flip it for the T-Mobile: Trade In; up to $380 off for Google: Pixel 2 series, 3 series, 3a series.

No it doesn't, that's sim locked and unlocked. Bootloader unlocked allows you to download 3rd party ROMs

From Woot website: "Google Pixel 3XL (Unlocked) (NEW) - Not Pink...The bootloader is UNLOCKED!!!!!!!!!! on these phones."

How do you live with yourself time consuming by spreading misinformation & confusion. 3 strikes you're out!

You will not get Android OS updates but sometimes Google sends security patches after end of support dates. They don't promise them nor do they have a timetable, they just show-up if your device gets it.

No, you still won't get updates from Google.

I used an unlocked pixel 3XL in Japan no problem a couple years ago. However, this was with one of those data-only tourists sim cards off amazon which did not include a phone number for cell service. LTE signal was pretty good but I was mainly in cities.
I appreciate it! hug

This 128gb model for $255, or a refurbished 128gb Pixel 4XL for $330?
I'm a long time 3xl user. 64 gb and was getting full and battery started to struggle. Moved on to the 4a 5g and here's my. 02. Both phones are good to great. I don't game, normal user and both work fine. The difference is the camera. It's not even close. I moved all my data over and was randomly scrolling and was reminded of just how great that was. Not that the 4a is bad, it's just not as good to me.

So if your primary use would be camera and the lack of updates won't keep you up at night .. Go 3xl 128.

For any other reason... 4a

You need to install sim card to get upgraded.
You dont need to install a sim card to get the updates. Just connect to wifi and it should automatically download the update.

my dad has a g7 fit that is terribly slow, still on android 8 and hasnt gotten a security update in years. would this be a worthy upgrade or should i look for something else?
Yes this would be a relatively huge upgrade. Just keep in mind official support for it will end in October -- meaning it may no longer receive regular security updates after that time.

Other options would be to look for used/new Pixel 3a or 4a but likely will cost a bit more.

Thanks for this. Camera is 100% my first concern, followed by responsiveness. I don't game either.

Only if you are OK with it being dropped for updates soon.

October 2021 is the EOL date.
Yep, guaranteed updates is one of the main reasons people choose Pixel ecosystem over Samsung

You should specify you were talking about the selfie camera. Yes, selfie cameras on the 3a and 4a are not as good as the flagship Pixels. Rear cameras basically have no difference.

I got this phone when it launched in a deal directly from Google, I really loved the phone, I know if I look it now, I hate that notch, but functionality wise, size and all it was excellent phone.
But, the battery life of this phone will crap out in a couple of months and you end up charging twice or three times in a day.
I thought of getting Pixel 4Xl, but Google completely derailed that phone, removed fingerprint and all, so waited for almost two years and then got the Pixel 4a 5G after trade in Pixel 3XL for $180 and been using for more than 6-7 Months I guess, excellent battery life, great screen, except it doesn't feel premium or falgship phone, waiting for Pixel 6XL to launch.
I wouldn't recommned because the battery even if its not used is already in the phone for at least 2 years, which mean it will go bad in a couple of months, no more upgrades and security patches.

It seems he is talking about the rear camera. Although they are the same on paper, "Not sure what is but to me, Def a big difference". .

I swapped to Samsung. My main issue was the front camera buzzing when trying to do video calls, I would need to hang up and recall until it fixed it self. The USB port just became an issue over the past 6 months where any usb charger would just fall out or the slightest movement would stop it from charging thus making me only go wirelessly charging. Next was the battery stopped holding a charge I got to a point were I would be at 100% then watch a 20 min YT video and be down to 60%. I have had shit service from google reps and their UBreak it company they use. I bought this deal through Woot but returned it when I found out there was no warranty on the phone and most pixel have that camera issue. This 3 year old phone was about $200 for a few extra I could get the new Samsung S21 for about $600, so I sprung for the samsung and I am glad I did. I still notice people using their s7 with no issue, google pixels seem to have issues after the 2 year mark. Not worth it in the long run tbh
Easy fix for the USB port. For me it wasn't the phone itself causing the problem but lint that built up in the port. I took a tooth pick and scraped out the lint. I have done this a couple of times and USB port is good as new!

No lint, the port is clean. It just over the years the usb port will warp a bit from the plugging in and unplugging where the usb port doesn't hold it as tight as it did.
It's a common issue for this model.
