Best to not have a phone if you worry a lot about this sort of thing.
I just checked the access permissions on the Google Play store and there's nothing about contacts or call history. You can verify this stuff yourself, you know.
I'm really happy with mine, this has been the normal low price for them, and the coupon code worked. Don't understand the two thumbs down.

I like mine. I think I bought it around 2 years ago for $80. Works great.

I have the BT version, I'll probably buy this for a few reasons:

1. Hopefully better range than BT
2. I like seeing all 4 temps at once instead of auto scroll with BT model
3. The color coded probes are very helpful.

Not working for me

Edit: I have had my eye on this and it was in my cart. Had to change sellers and it worked.

Is an Apple Watch app available? Anyone know? This is the only reason I keep using iGrill.

And give the app access to everything on your phone - contacts, call history, pictures, access to the camera. This app is a nightmare. I wouldn't put this on my neighbors grill, much less my own.

I've had it for 6 months and its been great! range is really good, plus you can see temperature evolution remotely since the data is on the cloud.

Well this sucks, talked me out of buying it.

Edit: I was thinking, if I wipe an old backup phone of all its data and just put this app on it, they wouldn't get much information out of me, correct?

Depends on the phone. As long as you're not signed into any accounts, you may be fine. Or create a dummy gmail account to use if Android and you have to add one. Another layer of protection would be to create a separate SSID so it's sandboxed away from your other devices.

Or, you know, buy a different thermometer....

Also, it is always a good practice to put questionable devices on guest wifi network, so it cannot reach your intranet.

Not here to buy one. Here to plug that I LOVE mine. I'd recommend this to anyone. I bought a smoker, got rid of the probes it came with and I use this with fantastic results.

I bought it a year ago and amazingly 3 of the 4 probes went bad after just a couple uses. I had them warranty replaced, and 2 of the replacements went bad as well. I can't believe the failure rate of the probes, and I'm super careful when cleaning and storing them. I wouldn't recommend this product for that reason - which is disappointing because the device itself is well built
