Functionality wise it's great and has worked really well for me. The meat always turns out perfect. Still working on the perfect bark, but not the fault of this product. This is the only one I could find that connects to wifi instead of bluetooth that still has 4 probes, which is important if you want to check it from anywhere, or if your smoker is far away from your phone. My office is too far away for bluetooth.
I've had 2 problems with the unit. My first just up and died one day. I think the battery ran down all the way and then failed to charge again(I went a month without using it). However, the company replaced it for free without hassle since I was within the warranty period. I keep the new one always plugged in when not in use, so I don't know if it's a design flaw or just my unit, but have not had a problem since.
The only other downside is the color of the probes. It's a great idea, but ultimately useless. After smoking even once, they all just get covered and turn a dark shade of brown. You can't tell which probe is stuck where, you just have to tug on the line and trace it, or remember where you put everything. Not usually a big deal though.
At $50 I'm tempted to buy this again just to have as a backup since it's really the only option for me (without spending $200 plus). While the base unit has held up well, I have already lost 1 set of probes to a grease fire flare up (it states they aren't meant for direct flame heat). But that can also be solved by a set of 3rd party probes I'd think.
Edit: I will also point out that the battery for me has been great. My last cook this week took nearly 18 hours and this unit was still at like 20% battery.
