Best Buy has the BR30 starter kit on sale. This seems like a good deal. Starter Kit comes with bridge that lets you control up to 50 lights.

The A19s actually have a higher lumen output but these are designed for cans so they might work a bit better for you. I normally have mine on the "concentrate" color and they are plenty bright.
Philips hue has A19 1600 lumen bulbs but they are white only. No white ambiance or color yet.
Sure, LIFX lights are bright(er) and colorful, but they're super unreliable. Nothing beats Philip's dependability so far that I've experienced.

I have only used their A19 in ceieling recessed cans and they have always been dim.

Maybe I really need to try the br30 instead of a19.

Oh wow just confirmed ur right. 650 lumens in br30 to 800 lumens in a19.

LIFX is doing 1100 lumens and I'm really getting annoyed and tempted to sell away all my hue products. The A19 just aren't bright enough in a ceiling recessed can as good amount of light spread is trapped in the fixture.

I dove into several A19s back when they were $90 for a 3-pack. Got them installed and realized I need the BR30 style for the recessed cans. While they put out enough light for my living room/kitchen, I've been waiting for a BR30 sale. Hopefully the concentrated downward light makes up for the lower lumens?? In for 4 packs…. Guess I'll find out in a couple days. Now I have an excuse to find a new location for my A19s.

Yeah I can vouch for philips hue reliability. Considering the recessed 4 inch or 6inch trims they have..but it's $55 each and prob won't see a sale till 2022 due to immense demand

Can these be used in anything other than recessed lighting? Maybe a lamp?

What version of the Hue Hub is this? Is it still pretty easy to sell those if you already have one?

Look into the Hue recessed light retrofits. Has slightly higher lumens with a cleaner look in my opinion. $35 each for the white ambiance version or $55 for the white/colored version and if you dont need a bridge, 2 of the white lights cost the same as this. Sold out on Best Buy but can be found elsewhere.
