"XT2, XT, and Indoor (gen 1) cameras attached to a Sync Module 2 system do not have clips saved to the USB drive. These cameras do not require a subscription plan and continue to use their 7200 seconds per Sync Module of basic cloud storage."
I do remember them reducing the length of storage. From what I researched yesterday all new accounts require a subscription. Researching for my mom. Decided the $199 Costco deal is better than this one.

You are correct. Forgot the XT2 was the first to have the USB slot. I rarely use the live feature. I always check after something was recorded from the app.
Guessing I would have to pull the USB out and check from a computer if I didn't have a subscription? Or do you still have access from the app to what is on the USB?
Now I am unsure what the new version with USB offers that is different.
Mine are still free.
XT2s (up to two months storage). I had XT, when I got XT2s I updated the bridge, been a couple years now.
Mine are still free.
