If the extra money wasn't a big deal why didn't you just buy one for full price? LOL
The only reason you are trying to say he's crying is because you are getting yours, suspect if it was the other way around you would not be too happy. If you bought a plane ticket and got to the airport and they said another guy got there before you and got your seat and you couldn't get on would you be cool with that? Probably not. Maybe a plane ticket system where you could book your flight, show up but if someone is willing to pay more for your seat they could get it over you, that would be fine too, right?
What if you get yours and then you see Best Buy bill you later for the additional money and say it was an error and you should have paid more, would you pay it? I mean it's only $70 to $100, right?
i mean if the stock goes out, you have to pay full. The price of magic keyboard would make everyone hesitate. i will buy it with lesser price anyway not at full price. i have not gotten mine so really doesnt matter. whoever gets it, let them be happy. lets not whine about it for $100

It won't come back in stock until 6/8. LOL. How would them have them in stock and then tell people who have delayed orders that there isn't stock? 😂

So I've contacted customer service numerous times this week, both chat and phone. I keep getting told estimated delivery of 6/7 and that they are currently awaiting inventory for the 12.9". This last person I spoke to put me on hold to talk to distribution and said that they will get the shipment tomorrow from Geek Squad. I have a theory that perhaps they finally know when they will get them and the reason for constantly being told 6/7 delivery is perhaps because these orders are delayed so they will expedite them. This could of course all be bogus but I'm trying to keep myself hopeful. The auto cancel date has created fear for everyone.

Did they ever mention when it would ship or when inventory would be received or just that it will be delivered on this particular day?

They just said you will receive it on 6/1, I even checked a checked a couple days before and they assured me it would be shipped. Then the auto cancel happened. I think their systems are pretty crummy.

If we have learned anything from this experience, it's that Best Buy's customer service provides false hope at the expense of credibility.

Like seriously, what is the point in reaching out for their help if it's just going to be nothing but deceit?

Reminds me of those old Radio Shack commercials where they made it seem like you can ask an employee anything about electronics and they'd know exactly what you needed. Except when you actually did walk into the store to ask them a question, you realized you knew more about electronics than they do.

One of my two orders was cancelled, despite chat support stating it wouldn't happen. This really was the last straw and I decided to log into my Best Buy account to get the Elite and Elite Plus customer service number.

I called them and told them I was informed my orders wouldn't be cancelled and that they would be fulfilled next week. I asked her if I could just purchase an open box locally and she credit me back the difference to make sure it was $99. She said that wouldn't be a problem due to my order being cancelled. She said for me to place the order, and she would credit me back the difference on the open box.
  1. She stayed on the line while I placed the order
  2. I gave her the last four of the order number
  3. She credited me back $177 (difference of the open box price versus the $99 price I paid)
  4. I greatly thanked her for honoring the original deal
  5. I then asked her to look at my bby account and see my other $99 order
  6. I informed her that I'm sure that order would be cancelled and could I order another open box and she honor the price I paid at $99
  7. I placed a second order, she stayed on the lined and credited me back the difference
  8. I am now on the way to two different best buys to pick up open box keyboards at the $99 price we paid

If you are an Elite or Elite Plus, I would try their customer service number. When you hear the automated system, say IPAD. Then say you need help with an order. The customer service rep there was a lot nicer, handled the situation professionally and now I'm able to pickup the deal locally. Very slick!

Good luck to any of you that try. I recommend calling, don't deal with chat support anymore.

Also, if you have the Best Buy credit card, when you place an order for the open box magic keyboard, it comes with an $10 BBY Certificate. This makes the $99 keyboard actually $89. Really great deal!

i'm elite plus and didn't know there was a service number for us. I chatted with regular people and they were rude and just told me 'nothing we can do' and likewise with the 'floor supervisor' who said 'its automated and i cant do anything about it'.

Ridiculous, at times i'm happy Amazon crushes the competition because BB reminds me of the crap we had to deal with. But don't get me wrong, i'm well aware amazon can and will be worse once there's no more competition. But right now, its satisfying to see these retail giants look like tiny ants compared to a book store.
