Earlier entries focused almost entirely on doing detective work (finding clues, interviewing subjects, and making deductions or inferences).
However, this game made Sherlock a younger, hipper character and put a lot of dumb action/chase scenes to play trying to appeal to a broader audience.
That said, if you play this for a buck (worth it) and you end up liking it, I HIGHLY recommend picking up Crimes and Punishments (the game before Devil's Daughter). It's on PC and PS4 and it's the best in the series by far and makes detective work in LA Noire look like Blue's Clues.

Never played it though.

After watching the trailer for Chapter 1 I feel like Frogwares is really doubling down on appealing to broader audiences. Now there's even gunplay and combat?! Devil's Daughter still had some good cases and Chapter 1 probably will too but I'm honestly skeptical about it.
