Excellent price, but not for pick-up as "in-store only" for me. YMMV. Repped.

I had no luck whatsoever getting my local Walmart to price match an online price the last time I tried. Ironically, it was around three years ago on another space heater.

I'd like to chalk it up as a uncooperative employee, but the problem was that the website had a Mainstays heater listed but the store carried Pelonis. Just like this heater, Pelonis makes the heater [pelonis.com] and it's just stamped with different house brands. Walmart sells their brand alongside Pelonis, and my store seems to mix stock depending on what they get delivered to the store.

The part #'s between the Mainstays and the Pelonis are off by one character (Mainstays starts with a "W" and Pelonis starts with a "P"). However, the barcodes were identical between the two brands, hence the ability to stock both at any given time. The Walmart employee is instructed to only price match identical items. This is also outlined in their price match policy:
Quote :
If the register prompts for supervisor approval, the supervisor must verify the price and availability of the identical item (i.e., size, model, quantity, brand, or color, etc.), by logging onto the Walmart.com website through a store terminal, before the price will be matched.
The problem I had was that the Pelonis heater packaging was not literally identical in every way to the picture on the website, so they said they couldn't match it. Despite the item itself, the specs, and nearly the entire part # being identical, they wouldn't budge. I tried getting the Customer Service desk to do it and they wouldn't either.

TL;DR - This may still be very YMMV despite the website saying the item is in stock at your store. If you show up and the packaging, part #, etc. isn't 100% identical, prepare for trouble. To be fair, I haven't tried price matching at any other Walmarts so maybe mine is just particularly uncooperative.

fyi: all of these 1500 watt heaters put out the same amount of heat. it doesnt matter how big or small, how plain or fancy, 1500 watt heaters will all have the same heat output. some may have a fan that will blow the heat in the direction you want, which i think are best, but 1500 watts of heat is the max allowed on a 120v 15amp circuit. i prefer the smallest heater i can find that has a fan. why take up more space if you dont need to. and you can pick them up for 5 bucks at the end of winter. just make sure it says 1500 watts on the box.
