I used this stuff on my lawn about a month or so ago. We had some deadening grass that actually went to dirt from all the death. I dug through the dirt and found a lot of dead grubs. So, this stuff did the job, I just waited too long. I'll be applying this early Spring from now on.

The product you linked doesn't work for grubs
Well, that sucks. I guess they just saw their other friend species die and jumped off the bridge with them Smilie

Anyone know the shelf life of the Walmart bug killer and the amazon grubex in the op?
I'm thinking I'll get them both since the MSU study says the Walmart one doesn't attack grubs but I'm guessing it'll still be useful for the other bugs.

Would probably get an extra set for next spring if it'll hold up until then.

Need turf builder grass seeds in Texas. Can't find a good deal for southern lawn types. Anyone can recommend? Saw the patch product on sale but it's not recommended for south based on reviews.

I believe grubs eat the roots or some other part of the grass which end up yellowing and then killing your grass.

I get this because we have lots of moles. Grubs are a favorite mole food so get rid of the grubs and the moles move on.

Certain grubs eat the roots, and can destroy an entire section of lawn. The dead turf will peel right off the dirt like new sod. You can also kill them organically with nematodes, which is what I did.

Ortho bugclear is cheaper $9.96 and has more quantity. 10 lbs and treats up to 10,000 sq ft. Perhaps a better deal?
I had the exactly same question. Ortho is $9.96: Ortho BugClear Lawn Insect Killer1: Treats up to 16,500 sq. ft., Protect Your Yard & Garden Against Ants, Spiders, Ticks, Fleas & Grubs, 10 lbs.

At Lowe's Ortho is $7.00

UofM does not recommend using the Ortho stuff or the Spectracide.

Not necessary for maintenance or anything. If you have sections of grass that start dying for no apparent reason, it's probably grubs, and sometimes you can take a small scoop of dirt and see them in there.

I wouldn't get this unless I had an active concern. Which I personally do, and just bought this at home depot for a few bucks more.

Great find!

If you had grubs last season I would go ahead and use since there's probably some left dormant. Otherwise I wouldn't recommend using these chemicals as maintenance.

Not only that but racoons with tear up sections of your lawn looking for grubs to eat.
