I've seen a couple misc listings lately where batteries are listed for things that don't need batteries. Maybe some amazon web person messed something up recently.

Picked these up when Costco had them for $89/pair. They sound great for their size. Mids through highs are clear without sounding brassy or muddled. If you need bass you won't get much of it with these. Matched with a Polk 10" powered sub along with a AIYIMA A07 amp and I'm very pleased for a budget setup.
Amazon changed price to $103. I bought these last year form Costco for $89/pair. I got fronts, rears and using one of them as center. Speakers are way better than my former onkyo which were twice the size. Bass needs a powerful subwoofer like the infinity 12". Highly recommended from Costco for price and no return time limit.
I used a set of the old version of these (R-14M) along with a sub as a 2.1 music set up and it sounded great.
Take care of them, save the boxes, and when you're ready to upgrade you'll be able to offload these on craigslist or fb market for very close to full price.

These are great as rears too because of their size and keyhole mounting and put out a lot of clear sound for their size. If someone needed to outfit the rears and surrounds in a 5.1 or 7.1 they could save some dough going with 1-2 pairs of these!

under product information, it says "1 Lithium ion batteries required."
is this some kind of new speaker that requires batteries???? I haven't kept up with the latest developments in audio technologies....

'I believe that's an error in the description. These are passive, wired speakers. I have a pair...they're excellent speakers for the price'
I wouldn't hesitate buying these for $99

I bought these from Costco a year ago and they were $80 for a pair. Amazon is overcharging for these. But wait for Costco deal.
