Inspire FTX trainer and bench $100 cheaper than previous low price of $1299. I have this and love it. It does everything I need it to do.

Use the 100 you are saving to but the overpriced 5 lb add on plates that are made by inspire off brand doesn't work very well.

I bought one of these last year and it's been great! just remember that there is only 80lbs of resistance a side, i was at the equipment max after a few months of using it. Inspire does sell expansion weight but its not for FTX.

You could always buy one of those gym pins to hang weight plates off the stack.

Me too. bought it two weeks back using the $100 off $500 promo they had going. Just got off a chat on the price adjustment, said I should see it in 4-5 business days.

It was already a steal at regular price and now you have 5% CB with Discover also. If I didn't already have a commercial FT I would jump on this.

If you call Inspire they will sell you the extra weight plates, new top plates and new cables. You can also use a Gym Pin (or similar) as suggested, but I would advise using 2 per stack (one on each side). If you put more than a few lbs on one side only, the plates will scrape against the guide rods and damaged them over time.

Anyone have information regarding the stack upgrade? Can't seems to find any info for the FTX. Are the current inspire weight stack upgrade on the market not compatible with the FTX?

No stack upgrade for FTX. Just FT1 and FT2

While there is no direct upgrade for the FTX, you can use FT1 parts to upgrade the FTX to 215lbs per stack.

You will need to purchase
a) A pair of the Weight Stack Upgrades - https://inspirefitness.com/product/weight-stack-upgrade/
b) A pair of the Selector Stem Assemblies (part #10 for FT1)
c) A pair of replacement cables for the FT1

Once you have them,
- add the weights to the existing stacks which increases each one from 15 plates (150 lbs) to 20 plates (200 lbs)
- replace the FTX selector stem assemblies with the ones from FT1 (each weighs 15 lbs, which brings the total stack weight to 215 lbs)
- replace the FTX cables with the ones from FT1

The FT1 stems are longer to accommodate the extra five weight plates, and have corresponding selector pin holes. I read on other forums that people modified the FTX selector stems by removing the rod and having longer stem welded/fabricated in its place.

The FT1 cables are shorter to compensate for the longer stems. Again, people were able to shorten the existing FTX cables as it needs to be done only at one end. But YMMV.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. Seems like a lot of extra effort for only 25lb of extra resistance.

What exactly do you expect from a Functional Trainer? This isn't something you're going to attempt a PR on. It's a machine that allows multiples movements in a small space. It does that job very well. If you need something with more weight, look for a high/low pulley system that has a 1:1 ratio of 300 pounds or a rack/bar/plates.

Hmmmm. Mine came with 5 "defective" plates. The sticker indent was on the wrong side, so they sent me 5 more plates. I wouldn't be against upgrading on side, for a little extra weight for some exercises.

Where are you ordering parts from? Do I have to call/email to order?

I've had this since last year. I use it about 4 days a week and there have been zero issues. I have never maxed out the weight stack on any movement and don't think it'll happen any time soon. Yes I'm a full grown male. If you're taller than 6'3" the range of motion may be too short for you on some exercises. Overall recommended.

Yes, you have to contact Inspire customer service, they are quite helpful. If you know the part numbers, you can fill the parts request form online.

I also have this machine from Costco that I bought months ago. It is a solid machine that is good value. No problems with it. I would recommend it also.
