With their constant solicitation calls, emails, letters, and ads in my vehicle for a very poor quality radio service, I'll pass, even when free.

The bitrate is about 64 kbps for music and 32 kbps for talk on Sirius.
The bitrate on Spotify HIFI/Tidal Masters is 320 kbps CD quality for lossless audio.

Use an app, connect a cable, and ditch the garbage audio of Sirius. (FM radio is 96 kbps)

The bitrate is probably somewhere between 24–48 kbps depending if the AAC variant is based on v1 or v2 of the HE codec. The sample rate of the played back audio is likely 32 kHz or 44.1 kHz which will yield 16–22 kHz of audio bandwidth.

have not looked at SXM since probably 2012. I really really really would have thought they'd have enough bandwidth to update this by now.

Seeing the title of this thread made me regret getting the lifetime plan.

Reading through the comments makes me feel better about getting the lifetime and not dealing with all the cancellation BS.

I thought I could get this trial without giving them my credit card info, but looks like they want me to hand it over. Unless anyone knows a way around it I'll probably skip this. My car is eligible.

Not worth the hassle. I have done the 3-month free trial for ever Sirius-equipped car I have bought in the past 5 years (9 or 10 of them) and AFAIK, they have always had this promo.,

Do you need a credit card to do this? I just want to activate it for my dad easily without any hassle.

My first new car they wouldn't leave me alone after the free trial. I started telling outrageous stories about my car being stolen or it rolled off a cliff etc. yet I would still get requests to reactivate.

It eventually slowed down and stopped.

After my second new car I never even got a phone call after the trial. Two notices in the mail and that was it.

After my third new car they never once contacted me after the trial was over. So maybe it's a kinder gentler Sirius these days?

I use Sirius but do it through carplay even though my vehicle has Sirius. I have the app set to stream maximum quality so the quality is dramatically better. Most stock car speakers will sound the same between 128/256/320 anyway.

Do you also pay for a different music service like Spotify? Why not just use something else if using your phone anyway?
