With their constant solicitation calls, emails, letters, and ads in my vehicle for a very poor quality radio service, I'll pass, even when free.

The bitrate is about 64 kbps for music and 32 kbps for talk on Sirius.
The bitrate on Spotify HIFI/Tidal Masters is 320 kbps CD quality for lossless audio.

Use an app, connect a cable, and ditch the garbage audio of Sirius. (FM radio is 96 kbps)

The bitrate is probably somewhere between 24–48 kbps depending if the AAC variant is based on v1 or v2 of the HE codec. The sample rate of the played back audio is likely 32 kHz or 44.1 kHz which will yield 16–22 kHz of audio bandwidth.

Worked for two Hondas... use a unique (or misspelled ) name if you've previously been an active customer.

Be careful with SiriusXM...once you do the trial you find yourself unable to live without it in the car Big Grin

You can usually call their customer service line and wheel and deal if you decide to keep it. I have a plan with all the channels for $60 a year for example.

"The transmitted data stream contains a multiplex consisting of up to 100 services with 8 kbit/s to 64 kbit/s each. Advanced multiband excitation (AMBE) is used as the audio coding format for weather and traffic announcements; otherwise, aac+ is used."

SO IT IS 64kbps TIMES 100!
Error of only 10,000%!!! HAAAAA!!!!!

obviously theoretical data for one channel.
also, not x100 but x8 max.
but that was original white paper:

The PRCs data field contains 96 PRCs with 16 kbits net data rate, whereby one to eight of these PRCs can be grouped to build one BC. These BCs correspond to the data capacities chosen individually by the providers to meet the different requirements for audio quality and auxiliary data content.

swap their 100 PRC and 64 kbps for Sirius implemented.
they can and DO combine PRC for select BC, I only heard ch.100.
what? you have better argument? do provide instead of downvote.
this is as far as I looked it up
I use SiriusXM in my Audi with a 10 speaker Bose sound system, and the sound quality is fantastic. Light years above standard radio. It's part of the reason I stuck with the service.

I have the $60 per year for my 2 cars. Today I called to extend to for the next year and they told me the price was going up $1 per month per car. The CSR asked me my favorite 2 channels so I said "70s and 80s". He told me to get the 70s channel the plan would go up $1 per month per radio.

I don't drive much or listen to it much anymore and my wife mostly streams off her phone to her car radio so I cancelled both plans. I'll see if they send any offers via email in the next few days.

Hmm. I mostly listen to Classic Vinyl, Classic Rewind, BB King's Bluesville, and my wife loves Rock the Bells. If I can keep those I'm cool Smilie Also give Howard a listen at lunch.

I thought this was pretty well known. I sign up for a new three month trial every, well, three months. Have the date on my google calendar, early morning (before the car's taken out of the garage, thus it hasn't received the shutoff signal yet) I sign up for a new trial. Have to make sure to use a different email, possibly name and zip too (not sure). Have two vehicles on the same schedule so I do one after the other. Haven't paid for XM in years.
Cool story bro. If everyone in the USA did this tactic Sirius XM would make much less revenue and probably fold. Congrats on not being slick, but for being a slimy weasel that doesn't want to pay for anything.

I just cancelled my Sirius XM this morning because I won't pay for any service that has "Neil young radio"
You might want to redirect that passion towards something productive like donating your time or money to a cause you believe in. Neil Young has a right to voice his opinion. So do you. If you want your opinion to be "I don't listen to Sirius because Neil Young is on it" then so be it but there are plenty of media channels that think Joe Rogan is a moron, you'd be avoiding a lot of life.

I'm eligible but already have an account. So I should cancel and just use a new email and do this every 3 months? Sounds kind of exhausting but I can understand the whole not having to pay thing

Just a word of warning, if you decide to cancel after the trial, you have to call and speak to their retention team, and they don't accept no for an answer. The first guy I talked to flat out refused to cancel my subscription, citing more and more benefits and reasons to stay. I finally had to hang up and call back to get a different person who wasn't much better but finally cancelled after I asked to speak to a supervisor. Both of them spoke very broken english that was hard to understand.

Anyone with a radio that isn't currently activated can get a free three-month trial. This has been going on for more than ten years, nothing new to see here.

If you just tell them you no longer have the vehicle they don't waste their time trying to keep you as a customer

Is Neil Young on Sirius? Had no clue. Guess I'll be re-subscribing! Dropped my Spotify as I don't support the intentional spread of misinformation from Joe Rogan.
