Anyone know how to remove the Sirius ads from a Toyota? I have zero interest in Sirius but I would gladly pay a monthly fee to be able to cycle from AM/FM to CD to Bluetooth without having 3 stops in the middle for Sirius ads.
Can't believe my car came with commercials!!??

Nope, that loophole was removed almost 10 years ago. You copied that from an old blog post. Haha what an epic failure
Not exactly. During the beginning of the pandemic, I didn't drive my car for over a month and my subscription ended a few days after I stopped driving it. It is still working now.

With their constant solicitation calls, emails, letters, and ads in my vehicle for a very poor quality radio service, I'll pass, even when free.

The bitrate is about 64 kbps for music and 32 kbps for talk on Sirius.
The bitrate on Spotify HIFI/Tidal Masters is 320 kbps CD quality for lossless audio.

Use an app, connect a cable, and ditch the garbage audio of Sirius. (FM radio is 96 kbps)

The bitrate is probably somewhere between 24–48 kbps depending if the AAC variant is based on v1 or v2 of the HE codec. The sample rate of the played back audio is likely 32 kHz or 44.1 kHz which will yield 16–22 kHz of audio bandwidth.
Yeah I get that you're frustrated with the bitrate but when you're traveling and hit them dead areas with cell service on the road satellite radio comes in handy. I'm poor and can't afford Verizon or any of them great cell services but on road trips it comes in yet again handy.

Sirius has been doing the 3 month trial phase forever. I know I have been doing it for road trips for over 10 years. The trick is to let it expire for a couple of months before signing back up again. It doesn't like back to back trial subs with the same radio id. So in my case, I alternate between 2 vehicles for road trips. Sometimes it even lasts longer than 3 months, so it's not down to the exact day (it might depend how frequently you use it).

Throw in a fake name and email (I use my cats), pick a real street address somewhere in your zip code (I pick a nearby store, like Home Depot down the street) and done. No CC needed.

Honestly unless you're a long haul driver or just on the road a ton, or are really into the talk shows... it gets very repetitive real quick. I wouldn't pay more than a buck a month for it. And audio quality varies a lot from vehicle to vehicle, and station to station. In my wife's car, some of the stations sound really tinny like AM radio.

I thought this was pretty well known. I sign up for a new three month trial every, well, three months. Have the date on my google calendar, early morning (before the car's taken out of the garage, thus it hasn't received the shutoff signal yet) I sign up for a new trial. Have to make sure to use a different email, possibly name and zip too (not sure). Have two vehicles on the same schedule so I do one after the other. Haven't paid for XM in years.
As of right now, my free trial expired but I still have access to it. It expired a month ago. Been doing the same as you since the pandemic started. No need to do anything until they end my free trial, if they ever do.

No thanks. They are annoying as hell. Plus they have a huge commie in Howard Stern that used to be funny as hell, but now is nothing but a political hack.

I'm coming off my 3 month extension of my previous 3 month trial. I'll let service cancel and then give this a shot. Hopefully can get 9 months!
If you like it - why wouldn't you pay for it after the 3 months? I pay for service which means I'm supplementing your abuse of the deal.

There are a few hundred channels of content on SXM. I agree 100% with the Howard Stern Show comment. His show brought me to SXM but I cancelled the Stern show from my subscription due to him alienating at least 50% of his fan base years ago.

But I still use the service because they have decent content AND you can get the service anywhere including places that Wifi and mobile service cannot.

Removing the level with HS dropped my annual fee by a decent amount

Still remember one of their customer service rep who asked me "You can afford a "...." car but you cannot afford paying the full subscription fee?" That was when I called them to ask if there would be an available deal after mine was about to expire. Never going back in any case.

Exactly, because I prefer you paying for it for me laugh out loud But honestly, it was for my mother who doesn't really need it as she's almost never in the car so I was originally doing it to get her off my back. She has a $5 sub now because I got tired of dealing with this every 3 months.

I wasn't eligible with my VIN but I was eligible when I put my radio ID for my Tesla.
