With their constant solicitation calls, emails, letters, and ads in my vehicle for a very poor quality radio service, I'll pass, even when free.

The bitrate is about 64 kbps for music and 32 kbps for talk on Sirius.
The bitrate on Spotify HIFI/Tidal Masters is 320 kbps CD quality for lossless audio.

Use an app, connect a cable, and ditch the garbage audio of Sirius. (FM radio is 96 kbps)

The bitrate is probably somewhere between 24–48 kbps depending if the AAC variant is based on v1 or v2 of the HE codec. The sample rate of the played back audio is likely 32 kHz or 44.1 kHz which will yield 16–22 kHz of audio bandwidth.

I was on the $5 for many years. Called the day before renewal date to "cancel" many times, only to eventually get the same offer. Recently I was told it went up a dollar, and they wouldn't budge, so I cancelled. Screw them.

I just got the deal. I did give a false address, but I've been doing that for the past six months, since my subscription expired in January, and it didn't work. I think 6 months must be they're minimum.

Well, some artists want higher royalty fees, so they save money by not playing them. There were a few artists who had big hits. They played them while they were hot, then stopped playing them altogether when they cooled off. It's a business like anything else. That said, if you drive more than 4-5 hours a week, $5 per month is a good deal.

Love Sirius. Their regular rates are outrageous but all you have to do is threaten to cancel and they'll give you $60 for the year or $8.99/mo if you want every single feature. Getting a bit frustrated with Howard taking half the year off though. 3 shows a week for three weeks a month + the entire summer off sucks. If the guy doesn't want to work, just retire already!

My father in law bought a used Audi and it had a lifetime subscription built into it. Hope he puts that in his will LMAO

That subscription will end with the car unless you somehow get the login information to transfer the subscription to a new car (or unless the previous owner transfers their subscription off the car). It all depends on when they signed up for the service AND filed a lawsuit claim.

I wonder, can you spoof a radio ID or somehow move it from 1 unit to another without having to move the entire unit?

Nope. The radio ID is tied to the unit. There's also the possibility the radio was prepaid for a certain amount of time, usually a year. Time will tell but eventually it will go away. Even the current tricks for free XM no longer work without having a revolving trial subscription. I'm just glad that because of the lawsuit my lifetime sub is now truly a lifetime deal (until SiriusXM folds, that is).

He literally just bought the car in 2015 and it's been working since then. No signovers, no transfers, no nothing. Not sure how.

If it is a lifetime sub it will stay active and tied to that radio ID. As long as that radio is functional it should still have service. That's why I was asking if there is some way to spoof or transfer that radio ID to another unit. There might be some way technologically to do it if one has the right skills, but I'm pretty sure it would be illegal.
