Very inaccurate. The compression isn't good at all, thats why it sounds scratchy with a constant hiss. If you look at a audio frequency chart you can see what I'm talking about. nearly any other source is better than XM. Similar to AM radio bitrates. I analyzed the signals a few years ago so maybe things have changed, but when I did, it was disgusting how much noise was being introduced with the compression and unpacking, by the time you hear the music it was like listening with cans over your ears.

The app I suspect is much better, the company as a whole is garbage and I wont even allow it in new vehicles that come with it.
symphony hall listen to that station. It is 100% listenable. The talk channels are around 24kbps but try encoding mp3/aac of the same bitrate. It's unlistenable as it is too muddy

The streaming app starts at 128kbps and up and it sounds good enough

I've encoded lots of content from home at low bitrates and it sounds nothing like what sirius sounds like. Their content sounds much better for such low bitrates.

you also left out the most important part in your "misleading" bitrate claims. They use mono signal for most of the talk channels.

even some of the music chanels are mono, but keep in mind most clubs are mono so it's not much different than that

OTA Sirius music channels sound like garbage. FM sounds better, at a lower bitrate. It's not even a debate, ask anyone or listen for yourself.

I'm not talking about the app. I'm sure its fine.

I'm not saying they sound good. They just don't sound like the bitrates you are expecting

Symphony hall however sounds a lot better than any FM stations

I don't listen to sirius but I always do check and see because about once or twice a year they unlock radios for free weeks or weekends

SiriusXM Dealer app... For android it is this:
https://play.google.com/store/app...n_US&gl=US

But you have to be at a dealership (can't just do it from your house). That's why I was saying if someone wanted me to sign them up for the 6 month trial I could do it (if they sent me their radio ID) tomorrow when I am near a dealership.
I used this yesterday with interesting results. Recently bought a car that came with 3 months free of music. I used this and I don't think it extended the music trial, but it activated all of the Travel Link and Traffic features, so I'll take that for now. Thanks.

I got a notice in the mail today that my trial is ending on 9/20/22 (yesterday). I'll find out when I drive tonight if it's gone.

I thought this was pretty well known. I sign up for a new three month trial every, well, three months. Have the date on my google calendar, early morning (before the car's taken out of the garage, thus it hasn't received the shutoff signal yet) I sign up for a new trial. Have to make sure to use a different email, possibly name and zip too (not sure). Have two vehicles on the same schedule so I do one after the other. Haven't paid for XM in years.
Doesn't using the same Vin or radio ID stop this from working?

I cancelled my sub after many years in June. I was curious to see if I could get this offer.

Nope!

BUT I could for $2. Screw them.
