Yes. The ethernet port speed matters. Depending on your ISP.

This one has 4 gig ports you can use with LAGG

Not really much difference other than the number of upstream an downstream channels. 16 down will support 1 Gig internet fine.

Considering someone printed a base for it to enable horizontal positioning I'd wager it doesn't come off easily. Granted, its plastic and assuming you arent going to want a vertical mount later, chop it off.

ANSWER: The MB8600 is a cable modem bridge that normally only connects to one device, such as a router, computer, HDTV, game station, or other device. We built the product with four Ethernet ports ONLY for two situations that don't apply to most customers, namely Port Bonding and Multiple Assigned IP addresses
Yep, it's just screwed to the bottom using a torx screw.
It's a modem not a router

Can I return this after opening if it doesn't work? RCN website says this model specifically is having problems connecting. Worth a shot for me though if return is easy after opening.

Yes, I just returned one yesterday that I had opened. They will check to make sure everything is there and will also check to make sure the serial on the unit matches the serial on the box.
