I have had this for a year now and had 3 incidents of complete OS corruption. I keep backup images updated regularly but it is frustrating. Most recently I did lose a good chunk of data due the corruption happening in between backups. Food for thought.

MX 500 was good a couple of years ago but SK Hynix S31 is faster and higher TBW.

MS 500 1TB 360 TBW
SK hynix S31 1TB 600 TBW

M.2 NVME would be faster for a new build and should be supported. This is a very good 2.5" SSD for those that want to save some money or can't use an M.2.

If you're thinking about building now, I'd see if you can get a graphics card first. Between the global chip storage, demand for GPU to be used for mining, scalpers and retailers not caring about selling to scalpers, they're crazy difficult to get.

This is a great line of SSDs but this, and other SSDs, go on sale pretty regularly at or around this price.

I seen crucial corrupt data as well. I know you definitely need to do a firmware update on the ones I had to not see these issues.

Conversely, I've had this MX500 drive for close to 10 years and I've never had an issue with it.

I'm not saying this user is wrong or incorrect, just that mileage may vary depending on use cases. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat

You are absolutely correct. I just put it out there as it is the experience I have had it with. Granted, it runs as a "seedbox" primarily and utilze the rig for other server based programs so it runs 24/7 in a headless state.

How does this SSD compare with
1TB SK hynix Gold S31 2.5" 3D NAND Solid State Drive - Page 3 (slickdeals.net)https://slickdeals.net/f/15029359-1tb-sk-hynix-gold-s31-sata-iii-2-5-inch-internal-ssd-for-89-25-after-coupon?page=3#commentsBox

Same price but different brands. I want to make sure which one makes more sense since I want to upgrade my hdd to ssd. Any thoughts

Except for new crypto currencies that use SSDs for mining. Right now while you can get an SSD and especially on sale and before inflation hits take advantage of it. GPUs are unfortunately nearly impossible to get right now and there's strong evidence that by the end of the year there will be more supply and cheaper prices
