I bet the M.2 SSD you put into this laptop is an NVME drive. The 2nd M.2 expansion port on the back does not support NVME drive. Get an M.2 SATA drive and it will work. Just check all the past Gateway threads and many people can confirm this.
At double or triple the price it should.

I mean no one considering this would really consider spending that much more. If they can afford that I doubt they would even look at this.

Although battery like would suck with that. If you want a gaming notebook this is not that.
any other opinions on this?
specs look good
IPS, 16GB 10th gen i5

Can attest to same. Spare slot is SATA type only. Main can take NVMe. Went through this ourselves.

How easy is it to replace the NVMe one?

Does this have a backlit keyboard?
No backlit keyboard. The support is non-existence I'd avoid this deal despite decent spec.

Just some screws and prying around edge. Didn't have a problem.

I would need a time machine to get the link to the Commodore 64, just like I figured you would need a time machine to buy a Gateway

you should be grateful that they accepted your return. gateway shouldnt even support your laptop after you opened it for ssd installation. who knows the trackpad problem could be because of your messy installation.

So many people would be well served if they had an American Express card. It would literally solve half the complaints in here.
Why's that?

I got mine today. I did a clean install. The system is getting unresponsive and temporarily frozen. I don't like the keypad and no backlit keyboard. Its looks nice and it has better hardware but not a stable device like HP or Dell.

Have been using it for a few days now. Coming from a back lit keyboard with touch screen. The no Back-lit keyboard does get annoying at night. Never knew how convenient it was. As for touch screen... Didn't really miss it. Before I purchased I heard alot about the bad track pad. Didnt know what what that meant till I got this guy. It suck... It's sensitive when I don't want it to be and insensitive when I do. Ex. Trying to drag a page down with 2 fingers... Doesn't register.... Best setup for me was take off single touch to click and put sensitivity up to he highest. But I've also attached a mouse so it became a non issue. General online/word doc were fine. I tried running minecraft dungeons as a test.... Thing was on FIRE. The fan was working overtime in a cool room and still the laptop was hot to the touch not warm. So for basic computing it's fine. Multiple videos and web pages still runs cool. I've got 20 more days lol

Did you update to 20H2 or later and still have the track pad working? My trackpad stopped working on both units when Windows Update were run.

I wish their 14" version had USB C charging
Sorry for noob question - why does it matter if charging is USB-C or regular jack? Are you able to use the port for anything other than charging? Sorry I really do not know the utility of usb-c charging
