I am kind of surprised that Costco is using rubber hoses if they are prone to leakage, I think Costco is better than this.
They ran 10 and 11 years without issue, then had to replace a sensor and heating element (just replaced all sensors since it was cheap) in the dryer and drain pump in the washer.
I thought 10+ years without issue was pretty good. The replacement components were less than $50 and easy to DIY (YouTube for the win!).
I think you're right, all of these newer units - especially the "smart" ones - are designed to fail and be expensive to fix. Personally, these aren't worth the premium for "smart" functionality given the cost of fixing a computer when they inevitably fail. Some things dinner need to be "smart".

This one is better than most. Still you should dry the seal and leave the door open for at least 30 minutes after each use just to be safe. The seal is slightly different design then most to help keep it dry. It also has a clean mode you should run about once every month or so. I never had problems with odor on my previous front loader, but we cleaned the seal at the end of the days laundry...Doors and dispenser would be dried and left open at the end of laundry for the day.

1) delaying start for many reasons, such as someone in the shower, or leaving the house and need the wash load synced with when I get home. Can also pause wash from other side of the house if I'm needing all the hot water.
2) alerts for dispensers getting low. I think I get 30 or so washes in between fills. Love that feature.
3) remote "finished" alert. I'm usually out of earshot when the cycle completes. This keeps me from missing and forgetting about it.
Custom programs is kinda gimmicky. I haven't used that. I'd definitly get wifi again (and dispensers)
if you dont follow those 6 things, you may open yourself up to front loader washer stink. I dont have these washer/dryers yet but have seen plenty of yt during my research state these are basic things you need to do in order to reduce the chance of the stink being a thing for all front load washers.

The dryer has been OK.. heating element burns out once a year.
