There is a Rampart Rewards desk in the casino, where you can sign up, and they will probably give you the details on how to use the casino free play portion of the deal, which can be used on slot or video poker machines. There are signs all around the casino with arrows pointing the direction towards the desk. I would think it would be a good idea to bring documentation of the deal to show them what you are supposed to be given, when you sign up. They will print you a card which you put in a reader slot at the casino machines, and then enter your pin, to load the machine with the free play credits. The card is also used for tracking your casino play, in order to earns comps.
As far as those saying why would anyone want to stay away from the more popular areas, people have different preferences. If you want to actually sleep in your room without concert or club music at 1am weeknights, this would be a good choice. The downside is that it is pretty much on its own, with just one nearby casino, about 1/2 mile away. Very different than staying on the Strip or Downtown.
If the outdoor temps are reasonable, dining outdoors at the Hawthorn restaurant there (only a few tables available), with their reasonable pricing, is something I'd recommend.
