Quote" It even was a real lifesaver one dark dismal night when I ran out of gas in a really bad part of town. While walking to the gas station I was approached by three thugs who wanted my wallet. I had my Smith and Wesson M&P in my hand and because when held in a certain way closed it gave me the extra confidence that they noticed and wanted no part of all of a sudden"
Seems to me that the guy should have bought AAA membership instead. (below was copy/paste from my post on reddit) That happened to me when I was driving a rented Cadillac Escalade from Hertz a few year ago... I ran out of about a mile and half from the nearest 24-hour gas station at midnight. I called AAA instead of walking through questionable neighborhood... fortunately, the AAA guy showed up within half an hour and poured a couple of gallons of gas into the tank. I then drove to that gas station. Good thing that I had AAA. The gas station didn't have gas cans left in stock, so I would have not been able to walk there and buy gas and walk back to the truck. I ended up driving another 10 miles to the only other 24-hour station.

What states don't allow you to carry a handgun at all. Wouldn't that be the epitome of against the 2A?
New York?
New York has conceal carry, it's just a PITA to get a license.

Better not to rent an Escalade, but a more fuel-efficient car. Then he wouldn't have run out of gas!
Same. Lol. But I already have a lot of knives.

NJ!!!
It is impossible to get a conceal carry permit in NJ and they honor no other carry permits from any other state.

And this hasn't gone to the SCOTUS yet?

Why did you have to drive to the 2nd gas station after driving to the 1st and discovering it didn't have cans in stock? Couldn't you pump gas directly into the vehicle?
Switchblade.
The first line of defense in most situations is actually a good OC spray, (spray.. not gel or fog) I always carry a POM OC clip and give to family.
If they are not attacking with knive/gun/blunt object than giving them a good dose of the hot sauce will almost always disable them, it's nasty stuff..
Why spray vs. Gel?

Gel is too controlled so easier to miss, fog is effected by wind and can easily blow back at you. Spray is just right with good distance, spread and control. Cross motion to the face..
