Any love for 17.3" gaming laptops here? I believe this thing is one of the best for gaming on the market. It's super light, is made with magnesium alloy, and comes with a high-density (170ppi) QHD IPS panel with plenty of power under the hood.

Liquid metal comes STOCK on this 8 core, 16 thread Intel 10875H with a 1 year standard warranty.

The RTX 3070 comes with an extra power boost in this model.

The battery is almost as big as they come - 91WHr.

The NVMe SSD is basically Samsung's OEM version of the 970 Evo.

Eluktronics is a lesser-known brand that has been picking up traction in the tech community and is growing a stellar reputation as a first-rate laptop boutique. They typically boast class-leading performance in both processing power and graphics scores. The MAX-17, as I understand it, is their premium positioned thin-and-light notebook.

I have no affiliation with Eluktronics but am in the market to buy.

The price is $200 off of Amazon retail price and competitive with similar products. Oh, and it comes with peripherals as a bonus! The price of the laptop alone with the same spec on Eluktronics.com is $2249.

Looks like a nice laptop. I don't know anything about the brand as I have no experience with them. If I was looking for a $2K laptop I would look into them further.

Nice deal, but would not buy Eluktronics brand anymore. Had to send my laptop in twice for heating issues. They even gave me a brand new replacement, which also died after 6 month.

Going to pass, mostly because I want a Ryzen CPU. Judging from recent reviews, it also has thermal issues.

The Ryzen 5800H is super impressive, I would be interested to see how it affects graphics scores compared to the Intel 10875H.

It runs hot because it ekes out every bit of wattage possible to get the best performance. I guarantee this 3070 will outperform many laptop 3080's as the 2070's and 2070 Supers have historically outperformed their 2080 and 2080 Super brethren when they are allowed to. It's based a lot on wattage and also if you can disable Optimus with a mux switch in the BIOS. This Eluktronics machine, like most of their line, has the right features to get the most out of the included hardware.

Start looking beyond paper specs and figure out what actually makes these machines tick and outperform almost everything else in their class.

Also, you won't find liquid metal on any laptop of this caliber at this price point. This is the best cooling solution possible in a laptop.

[EDIT: To clarify - the best possible thermal interface material for a laptop - cooling depends on lots of factors]

Looking for a 17" but I think Alienware is probably cheaper for similar specs when on sale. Searching around I did see Eluktronics spoken of nicely, but I'm a bit wary of newcomers at this price point. Personally looking for 3060 17" 4k screen at a very slickdeal under $1,600 after cashback, CC, etc. and have time to wait. If LG gram goes below $950, might just give up on video card.

Upvoted for specs + price point.

I've bought a dozen laptops from them (their own website) for power users at work. I did have one intermittent issue with a single system but they took care of it under warranty. Overall, I'll continue to buy from them

Eluktronics uses TongFang chassis primarily.

My biggest concern with this and with the low profile chassis is that they have used Liquid Metal in a scenario where it will react and dry up. Im not sure if the different companies who produce it have resolved it with changing the structure or recipe, but the liquid metals were notorious for drying up after a certain period of time, especially in laptops and then your performance tanked. Again im not sure on it anymore but I'd definitely investigate if getting a laptop with LM on the die.

*edit*
I should add that this "drying up" was around the 1 or 2 year mark, not right away or anything. People typically report seeing Temps and/or performance steadily get worse first and that plateau.

*second edit*
Just thought I'd post a resource for those considering a laptop with liquid metal (or any computer really). Im in no way trying to imply LM compound for a heat sink can't be excellent. I just thought I'd make known some of the past issues and concerns around how LM compound interacts with copper and aluminum if not utilized properly (heat sink really needs to have some kind of protective coating where the liquid metal will be utilized).

I have this same model from last year w/ the RTX 2070 and have been extremely happy with it. I use it mostly for civil engineering(cad stuff) and I'll play some games when I have some free time. I was in the market for a machine with a large screen that could run anything I would need it to for the foreseeable future and went w/ this over similar products from MSI, Razer, and Asus. I haven't had to deal with it yet, but I have heard their customer service is excellent, and their shop is local for me(Philly area).

Not at all lmao, liquid metal is not magic. the reason it's used is because the laptop is very thin and actually somewhat thermally constrained. The Max 15, for example(same laptop but 15") has below-average thermals, it's not great. the MSI GP66 3070 11800H(1900) has significantly better thermals than this laptop, and that's a 15"(is also faster because the cpu can push very high wattage even during gpu load).. Asus laptops have liquid metal, and don't perform the best thermally.

Noted. I should have clarified that liquid metal is the most effective thermal interface material for a given hardware spec as long as it is applied correctly and to a tightly-fitted heat sink. I said it was a thin-and-light, so expectations for "magic" cooling performance should be moderated.

Also, thanks for making me aware that ASUS applies liquid metal on some of their laptops. This is a newer development.
