the 4-bay is only $40 more
otherwise 2-disk is adequate for beginners or music server [def NOT budget/economical builds] -- as far as space is concerned (e.g. w any RAID 5 config/protection)
I've never had a NAS, but I have several USB enclosures. I had a 4-bay USB enclosure go bad the other day, so I was looking for a replacement. This NAS has more capability and is cheaper than most of the options I was considering so I'll give it a try. If I can seamlessly direct connect to my server or otherwise mount with the same drive letters I was using with minimal fuss than it's more than worth it to me.
