Picked up two the other day for the kids. They work pretty well. For 5 bucks can't beat it.

OK, what are these good for? In case of emergency I'm guessing where communication is knocked out?

(Asking from a city guy perspective)
I have these exact walkie talkies. Used them for our cross country move. I drove the moving truck and wife drove the car. Range was not 16 miles, but still decently far.

Why not just use a iPhone? This isn't the 1980s
1) why use a phone that is 25%, or less, of the marketshare.
2) not every wilderness area has cell coverage

Does this get channel 19 in case I need to tell some trucker that the chicken coop is full of bears?

Because you can't broadcast a message on an iphone. We still use these to communicate in our motorcycle group. Specially when riding you can't do a conference call but you can press one button and let your group know we are stopping at the next exit!!

Seemed like good cheap entertainment for the kids. I should've known better with a Walmart brickseek deal. My store showed 10+ in stock. 30 mins of my life I'll never get back.
