Because you can't broadcast a message on an iphone. We still use these to communicate in our motorcycle group. Specially when riding you can't do a conference call but you can press one button and let your group know we are stopping at the next exit!!

Seemed like good cheap entertainment for the kids. I should've known better with a Walmart brickseek deal. My store showed 10+ in stock. 30 mins of my life I'll never get back.
