FIrst of all it's used. "Renewed" is just a fancy marketing term.
Secondly, this is an older model. S6 Pure (used) is cheaper and has more updated software. It will also continue to be supported by Roborock so it will get software updates for it to work better.

The S6 is older and Roborock's advantage is its tech. The S6 Pure is supposed to get the software advances of the S7 (criss/crossing pattern for mopping for example) and other tweaks, but not the older S6, S5, E4, etc. that have older hardware and won't be updated. S6 Pure goes on sale a lot for around $360 (just had a sale last week) and waiting on that deal might be better for anyone who wants some updated features.

Thanks! I've been debating this vs the s6 maxv at 551. I'm in a small two bedroom apartment in NYC so obstacle avoidance is key - and a mix of rugs so no mop zones would be nice, but it's a big price difference
S6 Pure is a rebranded version of the low end/entry P5 in china.. P5 platform is also shared on S4 MAX and S5 MAX as custom variants. S5 MAX is a hybrid of a P5 Design + T7 model which was never released here.
S6 (T6) was the old former flagship model of 2019 with a bunch of extra features, but it's been succeeded by the S6 Max V (T7 PRO) and S7 (T7S).
S7 (T7S) from what I've seen is based on a similar platform to the P5 and regular T7 (Not sold globally), but the T7S PLUS should be similar to the S6 MAX V as the "real flagship" device.
Basically...
T7 PRO/T7S PLUS (Qualcomm based 8 core, Video navigation, highest spec advanced design)
T7S/T7/P5 (allwinner R16 quadcore, low ram, low storage.) T7S and T7 have better wall sensors and navigation algorithm (Might have upgraded LIDAR) relative to P5.
T6/S50/T4 (allwinner R16 with bigger storage and ram, but "eol" on support. Has better wall sensors relative to P5)
Another explanation is that P5 is a rethink/revision of the original S50. The internal design is similar to the T7 and T7 PRO with striped off features in certain areas to cut cost. It ends up being newer, better, and worse depending on how you look at it.
If you're going by the global naming scheme, you're going to be so confused and not understand anything. Also doesn't help that pricing is wacky relative to Chinese equivalents.
Is this a good deal? IMO, no not really. I would recommend S4 MAX on sale for $299 new in box. Its at least closer to domestic Chinese pricing minus water tank delete.
I do think the S6 is better than S6 PURE though as I own one with biases.
