This is brand new released this month. So no real reviews but the specs look rather good and the RAM is two slots one occupied by 8GB of RAM.

It weighs 3.2 pounds. About the norm.

Actually HP has this model with Ryzen 4000U series CPUs as well and this is more of a CPU refresh. So, performance, battery life, build etc. will be similar to the 2020 model. This model is HP's most value series, even below HP Pavilion series and it was coming with 2666 MHz Ram for both Intel and AMD models in 2020. But looks like that they have now using faster 3200 MHz Ram which will boost the iGPU performance.
Battery life will be around 7 hours depending what you're doing.

Ryzen 5500 is Zen 2 despite the naming, and obviously Vega IGP isnt RDNA. I saw this laptop in person and wasnt a fan of the dim screen and keyboard. Would be fine for kids to do homework and stuff, but wouldnt use it as a work laptop.

Sadly there is no RDNA Integrated graphics with even the Zen 3 based Cezanne APUs as well. And this is called Lucieene which is not exactly a Zen 2 and unofficially termed as Zen 2+. It has certain enhancement over original Renoir design and it performs around 5 to 7% higher than equivalent Ryzen 5 4600U, despite having same # cores and threads and clock speed. The GPU is Vega 7 compared to Vega 6 in 4600u and runs at 150 MHz higher speed. It performs almost similar to Iris XE in it with 80 EU, in real world.

Not bad looking. Drop a second 8gb sodimm in there to push it up to 16gbs total and enable the dual channel memory for a pretty nice system. From the specs the screen doesn't look like it will be anything to write home about but it should be usable. No display port alt mode limits docking options and it looks like it probably doesn't support USB PD either.

how is 250 nits for work? I've been hearing you'd want at least 300 nits..but i'm wondering how big of a difference it would be

It's good in a dark place. That's all. Keep in mind. 250 nits is used for the low end monitors. The better ones have 350 nits, or at least 300 nits.
