Sorely tempted, but my current AI mesh setup using an Asus Blue Cave AC 2600 as primary and RT-AC68 as secondary is working just fine.

Can anyone talk me into this?

How many AX compatible devices do you have to benefit from the upgrade?

will microcenter accept best buy gift card lol... i have been waiting for it to come for sale in BB so i can use by $250 GC on this specific one. Damn

Any thoughts on this vs Xfinity Active gateway? Currently have about 4500 sqft covered by 3 T-Mobile AC1900's flashed as AC68u's and configured as AIMesh and running my own modem. Paying for unilimited because everyone WFH/SFH and lots of streaming (5 in household, we were going over). Thinking of using Xfinity setup as I think they will also include extra pods for free (initial install only). Hate to have them have control of system, but cheaper since it also includes unlimited.

Good deal! I have this setup and it is way way better than my AC netgear router. It resolved all my network issues for Sonos, HomeKit, and Kasa switches. Currently running about 70+ wifi devices on the network and still averages 400mbps on my iPhone throughout our 4500 sq ft home

Personally, my AC3200 is starting to show it's age, and sadly never got AiMesh. So it's still got FreshTomato on it instead of AsusWRT-Merlin. It's working great as a firewall/dhcp/etc, but it's 5Ghz reach is not great and it's starting to need reset for wifi in general. Possible heat related.

So I'm mostly wanting a mesh network, but also better reliability and future proofing for a few years on LAN speeds.

So...that probably didn't help you and I agree that you're closer to my goal than me Big Grin

Just price match it at Best Buy in store. They'll price match local competitors (within 25 miles).
