Even adjusting for inflation I couldn't imagine saying "Mom and Dad, can I have $750 for a Lego set?"

And even if I did, they'd say 'Are you kidding? That's 3 mortgage payments!"
Where do you get 3 mortgage payments totaling 750? Probably where no one wants to live like in the middle of nowhere or a shack house.

If you buy LEGO regularly then this isn't much of a deal since you can wait till double points on LEGO and get $80 worth of points from it at full price $800 - $80 = $720. This is great for people that don't buy other LEGO sets or don't want to wait and chance it.

I'm going to check back a little later and see how I feel after a few cold ones.
Based on my experience with this approach, you'll be purchasing this later…

I ordered the Cinderella castle from there, no issues
I ordered the same and they just slapped a shipping label on the box. Delivered as family was going out and everyone saw what is (Christmas present). Thanks Zavvi!

Yep. The majority of my damaged in transits sets have been Lego.com....including the Falcon.

Same here. I sent the first one back...the second wasn't much better. LEGO can afford a bit better packaging than they're giving.
LEGO could use better boxes, but I haven't had an issue. Been shopping for more than 15 years. My first large Falcon came well protected as did my recent Colosseum.

Exactly .... what I want.... no jk there is not a F.kin Way I would pay that for legos.
same for simpsons
same for Mario

and all the rest. I love legos but this themed discontinuation and jacked up prices is a no for me.

Cost for Lego... probably a buck
Cost for retailer selling it... MSRP
Cost for new buyer .... 1000% mark up.

Who gets screwed? The sucker
Why come on here and shit all over a thread? Just move on, bro.

How is this thing msrp at $800? $800?!??! I have a three foot long star trek enterprise from mega blocks that I bought on sale for $125. Mega blocks is proof Lego is screwing you. I would love to sneak a peak at their margins. Cha ching!
I don't care for Mega. They don't stick together as well. But, they make Pokemon sets exclusively so I've bought them for the kids. Not the same as Lego quality, IMHO. To each their own.

I'm sorry you live in squalor. But don't shit on a deal that doesn't interest you to begin with.

I'm old. The last time I played with Legos, a set probably cost about $5 a box and that home in Silicon Valley cost still $20K.

Love Legos but couldn't pay the price for this one. Ended up buying the King version at a fraction of the cost. Enjoyed every minute putting it together. Highly recommend

I didn't know toys like this were priced by the foot. The set you are talking about has 945 pieces. This has 7500. You paid 13.2 cents per piece. At $800 MSRP this is 10.6 cents per piece.
No, the set is 3,098 pieces. https://www.amazon.com/Mega-Bloks...B01ARGB91K

So, that person paid 4¢ per piece. I paid 3¢.

Hi, how is the king version or their sets in general? I've ordered from Lepin, and the quality is pretty good. Not as good as Lego, but totally fine. The only issue i had was Lepin doesn't package the pieces very well. So, basically, I have to open up all the bags and dump them in a bucket. I like how lego has each part in a separate bag so I'm not digging for pieces 90% of the time. Just wondering if King does this better.

thanks
