Not everyone has the same needs so why is it so hard to understand? Inflate tires, run a nailer/stapler (and possibly a framing gun), blow dust, and PORTABLE/maintenance free? Perfect. Powering a HVLP painter, air tools, and a full shop? Not so much.
You don't understand why not everyone has your same needs? I don't understand that!
By the time an oil less wears out, you've got your money's worth and can buy another one without feeling ripped off. I just bought a 6 gal Metabo to supplement my 10 year old 3 gallon Craftsman I've used for everything.

For those that want to know,
Oil free compressor requires less maintenance. The cylinder valves come pre-lubricated along the walls. Although it's cheaper and lighter, it tends to wear out faster and not as durable as oiled compressor.
Oiled compressor are more expensive and longer longevity. But just like a car engine, you will need to change oil frequently if used often to keep the persistent of cooling the cylinders properly.

I really don't understand why most people would buy a) an oil less compressor b) a pancake compressor.
Adding/changing the oil on a compressor is so easy. When it comes to cost (this post not withstanding) something like a Makita MAC5200 Big Bore 3.0 HP Air Compressor is a much better investment. Its about 4 times the price, but much better in the long run.
I mean, if you are just putting this thing in the trunk of your car to air up you or your friends tires or sports equipment, then I get it. Unfortunately these things don't last long with any real use.
I have a bigger/nicer compressor but I still have this one to haul places/let people borrow! Great price.

It is perfect for what I need, the occassional tire inflation, a few sports balls here and there, blow leaves out of crevices and dust out of computers.
It has lasted almost a decade for the amount I use it. No fuss no muss. Why add something else to my to do list with a compressor that requires oil when I dont need to?

This isn't really true anymore. They last about the same time. Are actually sometimes quieter and don't have the issue of having problems during winter. I have oil myself but debated both. Pancake compressors suck though for anything larger then tiny diy projects.
Decent deal but ignore that overinflated $199 price, HD sells this for $99 so in reality you are saving $25 which is nothing to sneeze at. However, if you need to return or have issues with it you might be better of at your local HD if you have one close by.
Careful with this. This might be from the "remove from service" lot which may be why CPO is selling them If not, it's a good price on them. if it is, then cross your fingers.
These are a sweet deal with the nail combos. I've bought 3 over the years - gave one away when I got a combo just for the nail guns. Relatable for that use case.
Noisy. As. F*ck though. If I get another it'll be an bigger much quieter one at this point. But for the time they've been perfect.

My friend has this one, so first, it's lasted him years. Second, it's super loud. Third, the only reason it was $150-200 was because it came with nailers/staplers. It can be had for $99-120 normally.

I have not seen this model for less than $99 over the last 2 years. (Usually goes for ~$120.)
