Looks like if you don't have currently enabled Amazon Sidewalk devices, you won't have the option in your Alexa setting to turn it off(?)
So later on additional device become enabled, you need to turn off Amazon Sidewalk at that time??? Meaning if Amazon suddenly enable older gen Echo (or other device currently not in the list) to act as sidewalk, then at later time, the option to turn it off will be available and someone need to remind you to turn off sidewalk???
Or in the future you buy newer echo devices, then need to remind yourself to turn off sidewalk at that time....

And wants to kill people.
LOL. More like they want to sell us things 🤣
Pretty much you can check your Samsung SmartTag location as long as Samsung SmartTag is close to ANY Samsung device that has Bluetooth turn on(?).
So your Samsung phone may be keeping track of someone else SmartTag location.
Gen 1 smart tag uses Bluetooth, Gen 1.5 will use ultra wide wideband (+bt). You have to opt in to share tag locations.
https://insights.samsun
Using the Galaxy Find Network, even if a SmartTag leaves your own smartphone's signal range, it can still use the signal from other Galaxy devices to pinpoint its location. "The Galaxy Find Network that empowers SmartThings Find is encrypted from end to end, so you can track down your SmartTag while keeping all data from Galaxy users in the network untraceable," said Linstrom.
=============
Pretty much Samsung already has something similar to Sidewalk but it is use for SmartTag or some unknown device right now(?) And there is no way to turn off something in your Galaxy device for this Galaxy Find network(?)
Granted that SmartTag or similar Samsung device probably won't use that much data (since there is limited amount of battery power in SmartTag). But likely using your cellphone data or the data of the Wifi network your galaxy device connect to.
I believe the Alexa app on my iPad is up to date (it recently updated.)
I just noticed the Wiki on this thread - Echo devices 3rd generation and newer have Sidewalk right now. I guess my echo device is older (I have no idea what generation it is.)
I'm in the same boat. I don't see the setting either, so I'm assuming my echo and dots are too old.

Wonder what other services like this exist in Apple products beside this that use stranger Apple devices to send data to Apple server..
https://www.wired.com/story/apple...bluetoo
Say someone steals your MacBook. Even if the thief carries it around closed and disconnected from the internet, your laptop will emit its rotating public key via Bluetooth. A nearby stranger's iPhone, with no interaction from its owner, will pick up the signal, check its own location, and encrypt that location data using the public key it picked up from the laptop .....
The stranger's iPhone then uploads two things to Apple's server: The encrypted location, and a hash of the laptop's public key, which will serve as an identifier. Since Apple doesn't have the private key, it can't decrypt the location.
Wtf dude - this kind of PSA is perfectly fine here
It's capped at twice the speed of 2G (essentially unusable, so to find tile devices, Alexa queries, and maybe allow your ring device to function if your internet goes out), and only works for Amazon devices.
Really curious about the demographic who's going to unplug their internet so they can ask 8000 questions to Alexa in a row then turn their internet back on lol
You must not understand the difference between data and bandwidth. or the fact that 500mb a month isn't even that much. it's hardly a jump drives worth.
I am with you on this. It's a great idea. Some are behaving as if their iPhones etc are not listening, sharing data and using bandwidth to send data. They hate innovation until the time comes when they will need help.
