Volt is their hybrid, electric and internal combustion. Bolt is plug in EV only for power.
Bolt is not eligible for the $7500 Federal Tax Credit anymore due to GM hitting the 200,000 vehicle threshold. There are a couple of proposals floating around including $7,000 credit for manufacturers over the prior cap and up to $12,500 for US union produced EVs (which the Bolt would qualify for).

Basically the support falls on party lines, unless it can be worked into a reconciliation bill or they blow the filibuster it's not happening.

Edit: just for clarity, didn't want to get the politics argument going on this more just a realistic view of whether the credit will get added to make this a much better deal.
Stopped at my 'authorized' dealer for Costco.
2021 hatchback with a few amenities...
(Don't have a relative/friend that works for GM.. would have saved me $15-20/month)

Lease 30k, $1300 down (first month + all taxes and fees) with all incentives available inclui Costco)

$325/ month.

Uhh...no
Uh....no.

I was surprised by this too - several dealers with 2020's on the lot still unwilling to go below MSRP. I get that they all think there is a supply shortage but 2022's are literally shipping to dealers right now so not sure why they are holding on to a 2020.
We have no stock within 90 miles of my house. But outside of that they are interested in some deals.

I guess you missed the news,….the China, UK & EU have gone big into EVs in the last 3-4 years,..especially Norway. Also, 2020 was the first year ever that the EU generated more electricity via RENEWABLES than with using fossil fuels.

No. It's not a "horrible" deal but up until recently you could get a 2020/2021 for $22k or less fairly easily. There just isn't the inventory there used to be and the 2022s are coming out and at least for now I think Chevy/dealers are expecting people to pay closer to the $32k MSRP because they slapped a new front end on it and did some minor improvements inside. If you don't need a car immediately I would suggest waiting a few months to let the "OMG, I gotta have the brand new shit" crowd get their cars at which point I hope the 2022s will become more in line with what the 2020/2021s were going for.

My situation is I have a lease coming due in Oct. I almost jumped on the last crazy set of deals but for various reasons didn't. The Bolt isn't the only EV that leases well and unless you reeaaaalllyyy like the Bolt I don't know if I would really suggest buying it outright. It's not a bad car or anything it's just do you really want to pay that much for a Bolt that has quickly become outdated!? Only you know your needs so only you can really answer. Me personally I expect a hell of a lot better EV to be coming out in another 3 years so I will probably lease again IF the price is right. IF the price isn't right I'm probably in on an ID4 to buy or something else that leases well. The ID4 is more expensive after rebates but it's a lot more vehicle and is basically a generation ahead of the Bolt so to me it is likely worth the extra $.

Hydrogen is stupid. No infrastructure and you have to MAKE it using wasteful means, then transport it using "dirty" transport. Less clean than electric. Will never catch on because the infrastructure cost will be enormous.

Best deal I found so far was $28k out the door in southern California, far cry from the $21k some folks have been getting. Anyone have any good leads on getting one at that price?

$26550 OTD for 2020 w/ tax title license in WA for LT with DC fast, safety stuff, and heated seats steering wheel like 24k without tax-title-license , had to haggle and said I would walk to dealer that didn't have heated seats or safety. Also had $500 educator discount from my wife. this is my first ev, Ive never owned a hybrid either. I struggled between bolt and model3 for quite a while but I can't justify the $15k premium for a commuter car. if this was my only ride I would prob have gone M3 bc of charger network but all I wanted was easy low cost commuter that won't need maintenance and this should be able to provide that for at least a decade.

Let's boycott the dealership and let them die out.
If we consume less cars, it will force them to reduce the prices not llike now where they go above msrp.

Is the bolt still eligible for the $7500 tax credit?

Hydrogen has the same problem. How do you generate it?

Send an email to each place you would go to (few hours away). I did this for my wife with a Kia Optima. Only ~4 of 20 places replied, but I got a great deal on the exact car she wanted. Required no bs at all. The paperwork just said "out the door price $xxxxx" Nothing was filled in for the car price, taxes, fees, etc.
Their financing ended up being awful - essentially cancelling out much of the incentive if we had taken it to full term, but we just paid it off in less than a year to minimize the interest.

------------------------------------

I am looking to buy a 2021 Chevy Bolt with ____ package . I have already been to a dealership and driven this car. I am ready to make a purchase and am now just looking for the most competitive price. I am looking to complete this by the end of the month.

I have ~XXX credit score and am planning to finance through the dealership. I see this car would qualify for _______ bonuses or incentives.

I want the car to have the ____ interior and ____ exterior, but other options are acceptable.

If you have any matching inventory, please send me an itemized "out-the-door" price for your best offer to make this sale happen through your dealership. Include taxes for STATE, ZIP.
(also shipping if very far)
Very nice template. Thank you!

Do you mention the incentive you qualify, e.g. fleet price, in this very first inquiry?
