The comfort, the cracking/flexing sounds, the Bluetooth disconnect issues are not an issue with the Q30s. I have both and my 20s suffer from the problems I listed.

That's enough for me to keep and use daily the 30s over the 20s.

Not to mention the App for firmware updates. All the other physical features are a bonus.

I do like the buttons on the 20s and wish that soft/semi large buttons would've carried over. Feel like they'll last longer vs the 30s hard small buttons.

The design looks like a copy of Bang & Olufsen's Beoplay headphones.
I had a Q20, but after a very light use for a few months, the power button was broken and it could not be turned off and the only way was waiting until the battery dies. And the sound started cracking. So the quality is questionable: Unless the build quality has been drastically improved, it's a $60 headphone, no more or no less.

Can anyone suggest protective covers for the ear pads and headband? Maybe not specific for the model but that would fit as close as possible?

Or, alternatively, replacement ear pads?

Quote from youra6 :
I have both, and although the q30 is better, it's not a massive improvement. Build quality, usb-c, ANC switch are all welcomed improvements. I do find the mic to be a bit worse but it's not a deal breaker for me. However, if you want to buy the q30 for better ANC, you will be disappointed.

A reviewer on YouTube discovered that the ANC hardware in both are exactly the same and my ears can confirm that the differences in ANC quality is minimal.

Great headphone regardless but I see little reason to upgrade if you already have the q20.
The mic wasn't great when the Q30 came out, but they've since updated the firmware, and it's much improved.

I've had the Q20's for nearly a year and I mostly really like them, but there are several things about them that I don't like:
  1. With ANC on they still don't filter out voices effectively enough. Good for work but bad for cafes, flights, etc.
  2. Smallish control buttons adjacent to each other and hard to differentiate
  3. Loud popping static-like noise when tapped or jostled
  4. Slightly too bassy for some kinds of music
Do the Q30's effectively address any of these issues?

Btw, I recently bought angle grinders to remove some rust on my car. Would these work well to protect my ears from the noise, or do I really need dedicated ear/noise protectors?

How is q30 compare to Sony WH-CH700N? Both are in the same price range. I already have Sony 700 and WH-1000XM4 and looking for a somewhat cheap headphone for traveling

I have a set of Q20's that did an international trip (back in January last year), get worn while mowing the grass (what I actually bought them for) and used on my PC when I'm playing games and don't want to wake anybody up. They've been great but after a little over a year, I couldn't get them to power on. They would charge and blink/reset if you hold power/volume down when charging but wouldn't power up. I figured I got a good year and started looking for replacements but saw Anker actually has an 18 month warranty. Contacted them by email, had to submit a PDF of my amazon purchase and serial number, did some basic diagnosis (try different cables and chargers) and they shipped me out a replacement free of charge. Didn't even want the old ones back. I'm honestly very impressed with the customer service and would highly recommend SoundCore stuff based on that alone.

I do wish the Q20's had USB C and am tempted to upgrade but they're working great for me now.

To me there are there budget headphones to choose from....

Soundsurge 85 OR Soundsurge 90 OR Soundcore Q30

The Soundcore Q30 is suppose to have the best sound quality but all three use 40mm drivers.

The Taotronics Soundsurge 85 is suppose to be the most comfortable (I own these) and are also the lightest. If you expet to wear your headphones, lets say ALL DAY (at work)... I would have to recommend these over the Soundcore Q30.

I personally find wearing headphones all day use to hurt the top of my head... now that I own the Soundsurge 85... I don't suffer this issue anymore.

And now price.

The 85 are $30ish on ebay (with $5 off $15 coupon); the 90 are $35ish (with $5 off $15 coupon) and the Q30 are $60.00. I personally recommend all three.
