Thought I'd get this from Samsung to use 660 rewards points I had. After over 1-1/2 hour trying to get someone there to tell me how to use those points I finally got it for $79 with tax after points and military discount. I'd have had to pay tax of $6.40 at Newegg so I "made" about $7.40 for my hour and a half of phone and email. Should have bought from Newegg, had a similar experience last month buying an S7 tablet from Samsung online. Don't even think about using Samsung online or Shop Samsung app. Screaming PITA.

I ordered something there using promo credit and rewards points and a government discount. I cancelled the order minutes after I placed it and contacted customer service.. it took TWO MONTHS to get my points back. Be careful with their discounts. At least for the government they are not applied equally on all products. Their customer service is horrible, I'm still fighting them 3 months later at this point.
Oh also, at least on the T7 touch it disconnected constantly with touch enabled and seems to overheat if you transfer files for more than a minute or two.
I thought I would save money for my iMac by getting this drive refurbished on eBay for $40. Throttles super hard down to 250-270 Mbps now, practically useless. It must be failing. I would highly recommend avoiding that route, and to buy a new drive. Don't cheap out on memory, especially if you are doing important work. There is nothing wrong with buying from Newegg; so long as you get the drive new Samsung must honor their warranty. I ended up getting a owc mercury elite pro mini with a spinning hard disk on mercari for 18$, and putting a brand new WD blue ssd Sata drive in. It gives me close to or 400+ mbps write over USB 3.0. That is an alternative route, and there are many on mercari still for that price point. I like my alternative route as i don't need the drive to be portable and im ok with a powered drive. That being said, I did have the t7 3M adhesived to the back of my iMac in a very slick way, totally out of sight before it started throttling (2-3 months). Again, I got the drive refurbished.
Don't be like me.
I've also heard the t5 plays better if you need a 3.0 connection, not a USB 3.1.
Read my reply above.. I got a brand new T7 Touch and it looks up anytime you transfer for more than a couple of minutes. I guess if you're doing non taxing tasks or small backups it's ok. But what fun is that. I'm looking for something to store PS5 games and probably will skip this...
